Took our daughter to a Field Day even at a local farm for picnic. They had bunch of different things for kids - pony ride, ice cream, local soda/juice, flower planting (to take home), etc. Much to our surprise, everything was free.
So rather than sell one of my turntables I decided to just put one in the headphone rig and one in the speaker rig.
I setup the SL1200mk2 after it sitting idle for maybe 3-4 years, and it fired up immediately. I got to admit it put a big smile on my face when it spun up.
Anyway I do need a new cartridge for it. I prefer MM carts because I don't like to mess with SUTs or high gain phono stages. For the time being I'll be using an ADL GT40 for the phono, but hope if I'm patient I'll be able to find an EAR 834P or something similarly "classic" at a good price used.
As far as the cart goes I'm thinking of the Ortofon 2M Black. Anyone used one of these? Seems to generally be the most popular MM cartridge out there.
I watched the first two periods, then set the last to be taped. We then went to a bar in Mayberry to meet Claire's friends and sister. We saw some band at Peri's (aka Penis) and the walked to the second spot for sausages and the game was on. Saw the last two minutes. Game 7!!!
Well this is up and running...
I decided to scrap my old hacked KGST boards and reuse the chassis. This one runs at +/-350V and sounds brilliant. Very stable too and no heat issues with the 2.5" sinks.
Congrats Dusty! Glad to hear it worked out for you
As for me, I did the bike to work thing this morning and found a route that worked fairly well. I think I'm going to make it my standard commute.
