Actually, many of the db meters on phones are amazingly accurate. Erika has one in her lab that cost well into 5 figures, and the one on her phone reads about the same. In bad news, there is some new research showing brain damage occurs before measurable hearing damage. That is, damage from loud noise leaves people able to pass a hearing test just fine, but not actually process what they hear.

The guy also made a sort of vacuum pump from a thermos and the inside of a paper towel roll. The thermos inside the cardboard tube made a nice piston like seal, so it could be pulled out and sucked out the drivers with resulting vacuum.

no. Enough water goes though to dilute the acid to hopelessly weak concentrations. Front load washers are often cited as being gentler than top-load. So even less chance. Batteries don't leak until they are fully dead. Stop. We all have your best interests in mind here. There is nothing to worry about. Water for a batter spill applies to a car battery (or other Lead-Acid battery) and safe handling practices for the much stronger acids found there. It is not applicable to this situation.
