  1. Yes, I am anxiously waiting for Thursday to arrive (for rain and a day with a high around 90!!!) and hope that the light at the end of the tunnel doesn't go away once again. They keep telling us to wait one more week... hopefully this time it is for real.
  2. I think I would have gone back on my promise.
  3. Luksusowa and orange juice. Sorry Al, your Giants just got beat by the AAA Astros (without Carlos Lee). No celebrations today.
  4. Although it was only 104 today (1 degree less than yesterday's 105 and 4 degrees cooler than some other parts of Houston), I pretty much stayed indoors. I wonder how much our electricity bill will be with almost everyday in August being above 100. Might need to sell some gear. At least I don't live in Austin where is reportedly hit 110 today! Marc: Are you still alive?
  5. Sprecher's Cream Soda - I like it quite a bit and I am usually not a huge fan of cream soda
  6. Sucks about the leaking Jeff and Knuckles. Glad to hear everyone is ok (hope Gene is ok).
  7. Nicely put... it was a nailbiter.
  8. Vicki: That is so frickin' awesome!!! (Although I am jealous. ) Dang, that really sucks. I hate criminals and hate dealing with credit card companies.
  9. Very nice!
  10. I remember taking my niece to the NE Aquarium. She was about 4 at the time - she really loved the penguins but kept yelling at them telling them not to fight. No need trying to keep yourself from looking ridiculous when you have kids.... there is really no hope.
  11. I wouldn't put tape on the windows. It is a bitch to get off and won't really offer much (if any) protection. Plus the winds shouldn't be too bad where you are. http://www.tampabay.com/news/weather/hurricanes/article473575.ece http://www.statewide...-tape-myth.html
  12. Happy birthday Jack!
  13. I miss tri-tip sandwiches.
  14. Glenmorangie
  15. Nice Hurricane and Fall of Temperance!
  16. Definitely fill up buckets of water (or bathtub) to flush the toilet if necessary! You may not need to do it but if you lose water pressure, you will definitely be glad you did. Also, I would get a few gallon bottles of water and freeze them. You can put them in your fridge to keep it cold for a few days if you lose power.
  17. 2010 Festivo Malbec and pizza (with Hatch peppers, kielbasa sausage, fresh garlic, onions, tomatoes, and goat cheese (on my side, hubby doesn't like goat cheese on his pizza)). The wine is OK, the pizza is fantastic. I really love the kielbasa and Hatch peppers together.
  18. Ok... maybe I should keep an open mind on the 60mm.
  19. That is just not right.
  20. Good choice! That whole meat sounds fantastic. That is the plan... it is working so far! Here too but not as hot as it is supposed to be tomorrow (the forecast is 106!).
  21. Losing power for a week is not fun!
  22. I have read and thought about reverse lenses and extension tubes and think I would rather go with a macro lens even if just go with something like the new Nikon 40mm f/2.8 lens to go cheap.
  23. I have been thinking of getting a macro lens lately. I know the Nikon 105mm is supposed to be the shit but don't want to spend 1K. Some complain that you have to get too close with the Nikon 60mm (scaring bugs away) so I have been thinking about the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 and Tokina 100mm f/2.8. Anyone have any experience with either of these lenses (or just Tamron/Tokina lenses in general)?
