I am quite the softie when it come to helping out animals. I would love to have a dog or cat but my husband is allergic to them (and we travel too much which would be unfair to the pet). Al, that is super nice of you! It is too bad we canceled our May trip to Berkeley. We may make it our sometimes this summer - I'll let you know if we do.

Nice pack Al. Right as we were about to eat dinner this evening we saw this cute little dog looking in our house through the front door. Finally found out where the dog lived after some work. We called the number on the tag several times but the owners didn't answer (the address on the tag was not from around here so that didn't help). Found out their last name from the answering machine message and then looked on the Houston property tax records to find someone around here with that last name (there was someone 3 houses down the street). Took the dog over there and all the owners could say was, oh you must have been the people who kept calling. I guess they keep the dog in the back yard and didn't even know he was missing. Jerks. Makes me want to steal their dog from them and give him a better home.

Dinny, I think you should get that case and then of course sell me your Apple case. On a serious note, does anyone know where I can get an Apple case without waiting for a month or paying $80. I keep waiting for the cases on Apple's site to say "Ships: Within 24hrs" but the timeline just keeps getting longer. Was 1-2 weeks, now it is 2-3 weeks.

Yeah, it really sucks for Cleveland. They have a lot more to worry about.

Continental is headquartered in Houston. They have about 16,000 employees in Houston. They have a hub in Houston which means direct flights on Continental to almost any major city in the US and many direct flights overseas. With the merger (since they are the smaller airline), Continental will be lost forever as part of United. I assume/hope UA-CO will keep the hub in Houston for access to Latin and South America but I assume that many of the direct flights will become flight with a layover in Denver, etc. If too many the (direct flight) routes are canceled/unscheduled, Houston could lose businesses. Worst case scenario for me: some faculty members spouses (not in academics) need to relocate and hence we lose some good faculty members in our department and/or at Rice. Almost surely, I am being paranoid. Basically, I am just upset because I really do love flying on Continental (good customer service, decent planes, etc.) but have had less than stellar experiences on United the last times I have flown with them. It makes me sad to see them go.

So far I am liking the Timbuk2 bag. My only gripes: I wish there was an outside pocket for my cell phone. Wish it had an option to bypass the Velcro. Wish the fabric were a little more flexible.

Unfortunately, no. I am going to try another shoe store tomorrow. Maybe I will have better luck.

Went out shopping to get shorts and try out the Vibram KSO shoes. All the Vibram shoes in my size were sold out. I tried on 6 pairs of shorts and they all looked horrible. So I went to Micro Center and came home with a Timbuk2 small messenger bag for the ipad instead. Unfortunately, this often seems to be how my clothes shopping ends.

Picked up a black Timbuk2 Freestyle Netbook Messenger bag from Micro Center today. I like the special pocket for the ipad. There is enough room to put the ipad+Belkin case inside so there will be enough room for the ipad+apple case. Warning: The strap is not that long (I would prefer that it was about 6 inches longer) so it may be a little awkward for some people.

I just ran a bunch of speed tests on the ipad with wifi and got anywhere from 3 Mbps to 25 Mbps. When I have a good connection, it seems to be around 20-25. Edit: At least this is what speed test is telling me. Doesn't this seem a little fast for cable modem?

You hold down the on/off button on the side and while doing that, press the circular button the front of iPad. It will make a clicking sound indicting you have taken a picture. The picture will be in your photos app. I put it not the web by syncing the photo to my Mac. I'm not sure if there is an easier way to do this last step.

What kind of apps Monkey? I got my first iTunes receipt with a Free total this week, since getting the iPad.
