  1. I have a strange question. Is there any conceivable reason that the normal bias output would sound better than a pro bias one with a pro bias phone? I plugged my O2s into the normal bias output on my T1 and couldn't help but feel less solidifying of images within the headstage. Its like they had more juice(the volume pot was obviously cranked up higher than when I would listen to them out of the pro bias output) Im probably out of my mind and it must be the placebo of cranking my volume pot higher without it distorting sooner via the pro bias output.(since plugged into the pro bias output the volume is much louder at for example 11 o'clock vs 11o'clock via the normal bias output) Although less voltage is supplied is there more current going into the phones as the volume pot is cranked up higher via the normal bias output? Completely disregard my previous statement if its complete cockamamy as my knowlege of current vs voltage is minimal if not nonexistent:D
  2. lol at that statement, and if I remember correctly you were quite skeptical about any positive difference the BHSE would bring compared to your ES1. Very glad you're enjoying your amp. It looks incredible in your system. I can't begin to understand how exhausted Justin might be from finishing just the amps that have already shipped. 20 BHSE's must be a beyond daunting task, although the idea of building a T2(headamp style) would most likely make the BHSE seem like building a pico in comparison:D Congrats Elephas, im sure you have a grin that cannot not be wiped off your face:p
  3. What is the function of the four tubes toward the rear of the chassis? The task looks very challenging to say the least, but im sure the result once completed will be spectacular.
  4. Wow, wish I could compare the T2 vs BHSE. I want to learn electronics just to understand what you guys are talking about in regards to the complexity of the T2.
  5. Don't write yourself off immediately when it comes to discerning differences between interconnects with the O2s. I don't understand how anyone could not hear differences with an instrument that has such high resolution. Just switching between the Stax RCA cables that came with my T1 and using the $79.00 SignalCables Silver Resolution, the differences are immediately recognizable to my ears. The Stax RCAs sound congested in comparison. Both imo are not great innerconnects and when my new amp comes I will definately pick up a nice pair of balanced cables. BTW very nice write up Deepak, now you just need a BHSE:)
  6. lol my girlfriend was so sad when she did not win the JH13s at Canjam. When you won them, I said "he has no idea what hes getting, he's gunna love them.":o(knowing you did not have any experience with custom iems.) Good prediction eh?
  7. That artwork is awesome! I like the ones that almost look "edible":D
  8. Damn Aerius, you pretty much nailed this one on the head for me. The soundstage is my biggest letdown so far. It really does make every recording I listen to unnatural and overly large. The headstage is also very centrally located for me. This coloration is similar to the HE90, but the difference is the HD800 makes recordings sound too large(unnatural), where as the HE90 makes everything sound too "open" But I still have hope for the HD800s, they have sounded pretty good to me in some setups and I need to audition them on a longer basis and on a variety of equipment to see what works and what doesnt.
  9. This is very true. The SR-007 portrays music without inducing any signature imo. The HE-90 for example imposes a diffused airy sound on any recording that is played through it. This makes music a lot less dynamic for me hearing the same soundstage and and a little annoying. I dont like hearing the same soundstage/diffused sound on all the music I play through them. The SR-007 from my perspective does not create any set "boundaries." Recordings can sound both small and large, but the music is always comes without any set boundary. I still love the HE-90 even though I much prefer the O2.
  10. I've never heard the KGSS, but the 717 is a pretty pure sounding unit to me. BTW does anyone know if the SRM-T1 is a DC amp?
  11. When you're trying to put the O2 pads back on, the easiest way is not to put the lining between the black plate initially, but to stretch the lining over to gap so you have leverage to hold the pad in place as you rotate them around the cup. It will eventually slip into the crevice and now your done!
  12. Im so glad you guys are enjoying the JH13. Good custom iems can give you a new outlook on audio reproduction. Its like graphics cards in SLI configuration except you got six drivers pumping dedicated frequencies in each ear. This FOTM is pure win.
  13. Ah, let us know how it fairs. Its a sweet looking gadget:)
  14. With these custom iems in general, a good source will make all the difference. The fact that they sound great straight out of a dap shows that they are extremely efficient power wise, hence better amplification is not necessary imo. Those that want to upgrade their custom iem experience should get the best source possible. From all the daps i've tried, they sounded so damn different it was remarkably easy to tell the difference. These iems are so damn precise and focused as many of you are now experiencing. Pico Dac for the win! Or perhaps Hifiman anyone?
  15. Im having mine configured with two pro bias stax jacks. Unfortunately you will not be able to listen to the normal bias Sigmas on them.
  16. Great choice in pairing of amps and phones imo. If I can make it to a later meet in the area, i'll definately have to have you listen to the BHSE when I receive it.
  17. I will definately post some impressions (most importantly pics:p) when I receive my BHSE. If I can get a hold of a pair of Lambda Sigs I will post impressions between them and the O2 MKI(which I currently own). Im sure the Lambda Sigs will not even be able to touch the O2s out of the BHSE considering how the O2 is particularly impressive from a technical standpoint and for me, even more impressive from a subjective listening standpoint. But the Lambda sigs are not for critical listening anyways, just curious to see how a Lambda would perform with the BHSE. Ah I see, im sensitive to etch as I found even the Lambda Sig out of the T1 to be quite hot in the upper midrange section. The SR-404 would probably be a bad choice even for casual listening but I wont know until I listen to them myself.
  18. Thanks for your impressions and advice Quad. If I get my hands on a Lambda Signature, im planning on using it with the Blue Hawaii SE. Wonder what effect the added power will bring? Nonetheless, it was very enjoyable out of the T1.
  19. I got my impressions for my UE-11s at the actual UE office headquarters in Irvine, and I got my impressions for the ES3X from a local hearing physicians office. Both times, i've had to send back for multiple refits. End results: UE-11s: Perfect fit in right ear. Left ear fits but seals less(very small gaps in the fit). Both ears give me no pain or discomfort. Its just weird having one ear be so obviously larger than the other. They adjusted the right earpiece 5 times until they just had to make a completely new one. ES3X: Left ear is perfect. Right ear fits well too, but gives me slight discomfort after a while. The pain is not as bad as when I first got them, so I can live with it. Needless to say im not looking for any more custom iems at this point. I don't want to go through the trouble of the refiting process again. When you get custom iems you have to understand that it may not be a perfect fit the first time (if it is then you are lucky and dont need to worry about anything) and that its not just a buy and listen immediately type deal. I should have gotten the JH13, but was obviously off in timing because I got the ES3X's just before the JH13 was announced. Custom iems have given me a great deal of listening pleasure, and new insight in sound reproduction, but the hassle of fitting was not a pleasant one for me.
  20. I listened to a pair of Lambda Signatures for the first time out of the T1. It was definately a fun/flawed sound I enjoyed. Listened to non-critically, the only slight gripe is the slight upper midrange etch making some vocals harsh when turned up to louder volumes. Does anyone have any comments on the SR-404 in this regard and as a whole compared to the Lambda Signature? (Catscratch seems to be the most offended by this midrange emphasis.)
  21. Umm, im not sure about the Lambdas, but that would most likely warp the drivers. The O2s would most certainly be destroyed.
  22. Team minimal would never accept you! Although quality to quantity ratio is 1:1
