  1. Have a great birthday Birgir!
  2. Billy Mays, your infomercials were the first ones I ever saw. No one will ever be as good as you. RIP Billy.
  3. Awesome color and HC logo. Congrats!
  4. "This is a giant water bug, the largest bug in the United States, and one of the largest INSECT in the United states. It is often confused for a cockroach, but beware. Unlike the cockroach, this insect is a vicious predator with a nasty bite. Its natural habitat is in the water, but they migrate at night to find new ponds. And like other flying insects, they often get attracted to the lights on your front porch. Be careful about disposing of dead specimens that you find. When stranded out of water, they often minimize their motions and end up looking dead. Many people have picked up seemingly dead water bugs, only to have it "come alive" and bite them." Or probably even worse, can you imagine if you saw an earwig this big squirming around? The tiny ones scare the shit outta me already.
  5. A true legend, RIP Michael Jackson. Ben is always going to be my favorite MJ song.
  6. In my latest dealings with a member from audiogon, I exchanged a few emails and he told me that he was interested in headphones, but did not know too much about them. He also said he had a pair of unused electrostats that i've never heard of. Tannoy Micromonitor TMX1 electrostatic headphones Does anyone know anything about these? He says they are quite old, likely from the 70s. I did not even know Tannoy made headphones. Maybe its a different company?
  7. If you talking about sound localization in regards to distance of sounds in relation to the listener, then I think you mean headstage.
  8. Really sorry about your amp Al. How long have you had it? You still have the Luxman though so your not out of business.

    Cave Story

With my Xbox360's pure red rings of death, this game has taken up my free gaming time. Its very addictive once you boot it up. Level 3 weapons are so satisfying.
  10. Catscratch, I own the UE-11s and ES3X. I also got to listen to(shortly) both the JH11 and JH13 at Canjam. I'm not exactly sure what your sonic preferences are, but I do know from reading some of your posts that you do not like any sort of midrange/upper midrange etch. From my experience, the UE-11s, Westone ES3x the JH13 have one thing in common, that is they are very well balanced and remarkably neutral in music reproduction. Here are some comparision comments on the various phones straight out of a 5.5g ipod. I'll skip the basic sound characteristics and just focus on comparision between the phones. The Westone ES3X has a slightly treble shy tonal balance. Combine this with less transparency and the vocals now sound more foward than with the UE-11s. I believe that the vocals sound more foward due to a couple reasons. Although all the detail is present across the spectrum just like the UE-11s, the slightly deficient treble quantity allows me to hear more midrange detail. (but this does not mean its midrange HAS more detail). The UE-11 is a better portrayer of space. Its more transparent, more refined and notes over the UE-11s are more brightly lit. Its sense of "relaxed clarity" is outstanding. But it is not deficient tonally at any end of the spectrum. I had a short listen to the JH13, which i unplugged from his P-51/ipod setup to plug into my ipod hp out. The good thing about listening to custom monitors(universal versions) at a meet is the sound isolation that they offer. This allowed me to get a better grip on its sound signature than open headphones in a noisy room. All I can say from a short listen is that the JH13 is much more similar to the UE-11s. What I heard is a more refined version of the UE-11. The neutrality and even-tonal balance is still there. This makes sense, as he did design the UE-11s. My preferences heavily favor the UE-11 over the ES3X and the JH-13 is a further step beyond the UE-11.
  11. Opps, reread that with the smiley and realised it should'nt have been there. Definately just ironic.
  12. lol, how ironic. I didn't mean you in particular, but then again I don't know of anyone else getting theirs in the silver scheme. So you make a great candidate;D
  13. Elephas, people have already received their amps so don't worry. iirc, Justin told me that he can make about two BHSE's per week. Not sure if that means the internals of the amp or both the internals and case work, but still yours is bound to be finished soon. Whenever I see this thread bumped, I always hope for pics of the silver version from an owner on here.
  14. While I agree with the Segway being more convienient for the user. I definately have to disagree with it being more dignified. Although a wheelchair might not be the most dignified thing, I bet a lot less people would have mentioned anything about Noel Lee if it wasn't for that Segway he was on. I mean many people buy them for novelty and they are quite expensive.(anywhere between $5000.00 to $10,000.00 plus) I don't know about anyone else, but i've seen some Segway security at my local shopping centers, and damn the first thing I think when I see them rolling around in one of those is "how much of a lazy douche do you have to be to roll around in one of those?" But since he is disabled, the lazy part is not applicable, but the latter part still remains.
  15. I mentioned the careless behavior you speak of a little while back in this thread. The "manhandling" was a pair of Stax Sigmas, which one of the Monster associates was dangling by one cup trying to get a better look. He was also the same one who tripped and yanked a pair of AD2ks on to the floor which startled Stevio. But regardless, I think its fine that they come to meets and help materialize a widespread awareness of headphones to the average consumer or what not. I think the only problem is the careless attitude I saw when it came to peoples gear. Im sure that many of the Monster associates do not have proper knowledge/understanding of a headphone meet, and thus see gear as being just easily replaceable and ordinary. These headphone meets began as small, often close knit groups, and the level of trust and care that I see from long time members is quite astonishing. It makes sense as many members have known or seen each other since the beginning. As these meets get larger and larger, there will be more people that won't understand the level of trust and caliber that these meets can furnish. One downside of these meets getting bigger and bigger is that if people see more incidents of neglect at these meets, less gear might be brought to be shared. Its like bringing a BHSE to a friends house, the gear will be treated nicely and with care in most circumstances. However bring a BHSE to your local Best Buy to have anyone come and listen? Hell no, something will most likely have been mistreated and damaged by then.
  16. I wish I had a pair of HD800s, imperfection or not. Im aching to spend a couple of weeks of alone time with them outside of a meet environment and for longer durations.
  17. Unless his nerve deterioration limits his hand and arm movement, I think it would be much more tactful for him to come in a wheel chair. Heck even a powered one so he doesnt even need to move his arms. Who am I kidding, his ego is probably larger than his marketing plans.
  18. Welcome again Steve! I need to listen to your R2R again someday.
  19. I listened to Al's 4070 at Canjam on the ES2. It was definately more neutral as in not erring slightly on the side of warmth like the O2s. This is definately a headphone you can gear to your sound preferences as basically source and amplification/interconnect will make the formula for the end sound you want. IMO from a short listen, its not as weighty as the O2s, meaning there was less authority/realism to its sound. Almost all electrostats sound very holographic to me compared to dynamics. This equates to smooth, effortless portrayal of inner detail but a lack of realism to me. The O2s to me are the only ones in my experience that give me both, but can sound sloppy without powerful amplification which attributes to many negative comments about its sound from various listeners. However for me the comfort was not on par. My ears, which are close to flush against my head, rubbed against the inside of the phones, and they felt a little heavy on my head. I cannot comment further on their sound but it was a nice listen and quite enjoyable. Would love some more time with them in the future. Congrats Spritzer!
  20. Same, thanks for the offer Elephas.
  21. Awesome pics Al. Dom really enjoyed those HD800s, like wallet hurting enjoyed.
