  1. lucky you, those are quite beautiful:)
  2. This was one of the last things I heard toward the end of the meet. I took IpodPJ's advice and decided to check out the DNA amp. He left his HD800s there, so I took a short listen with them on the single ended version of the amp. I thought that it was one of the better sounding HD800 setups to me. I didn't get the feeling that the amp imposed much and this is a good thing. It was smooth, detailed and natural sounding to me from my short listen. Im more curious now that I heard it. aww thanks:)
  3. These pics are a bad temptation today. I'm finally legal to buy and consume.
  4. Thanks for the correction, what phones will you be using for the normal bias output jack?
  5. Sorry I used the wrong word. Im not irritated that he didn't go home with his BHSE, I was just suprised that he didn't take his new amp home with him. I just thought of it myself as I put down for a BHSE back in late 2008. It was only a little strange to me because a couple times during the meet I ran into Steve and asked him if he listened to his BHSE yet, and he told me very casually that he had not yet.
  6. What irks me even more is that he lives in Colorado and he left his amp in LA without so much as a listen. I could never do that. Anyways Steve, on Friday night I couldn't help notice that when Mikeymad plugged in the SR-Omegas into the right 5-pin input, you did not want it plugged into that input. Is your BHSE equiped with a pro bias and normal bias input? But even then its fine cause plugging the SR-Omegas into a normal bias wouldnt hurt anything right?
  7. Thats good, I'm sure the phones are still in great shape then. BTW, are you finally now listening to your BHSE? lol, how many times did I ask you that at the meet? I think I was the first one to listen to your amp:). Justin looked pretty disgruntled lol, as he held my O2s in his hand looking for you so you could listen to them haha. I understand considering he did bring it to the meet for you and was basically unveiling it for you. Sorry I couldn't resist, but all joking aside, thanks for being so generous with everyone that listened to your amp. I even asked him to listen to it, but he declined and let everyone else listen to it instead. So I hope you're enjoying it now!
  8. Oh good lord, the segway guy and his assistants were pretty douchy. I let him have a listen to my O2s while I was at the sigma rig(velogregs i believe?) and the first thing he said to his partner was "hey can we change the music, hurry and grab my cd" then his freakin segway assistant procedes to trip over a pair of ad2000ks:palm:(which smacked on the floor) and stevieo let out a little shout, probably in concern for the falling equipment. His assistant was also yanking the sigmas by one cup and the phones were just dangling everywhere. At that point I told him I had to go and promptly took my O2s off his head and away from him. Jeeze did not like the blatant disregard for other peoples equipment. I treat other peoples equipment like gold, but these guys were just getting on my nerves.
  9. How do you like them in substitute to your XF2 EL34s? I'd be down for a group buy. Why can't I just be cheap and get some SED Winged C's instead?
  10. I finally listened to the O2 MKII on both the BHSE and WES. Its strange becuase from my limited time with them, I swore they had more bass(although less deep bass) than the MKI. From my impressions they are still very similar to the O2 MKI in basic sound construction(aka focus, smaller headstage ect.), but many impressions are spot on, as some of the peaky frequency ranges, and lack of deep bass just do not provide the same relaxed effortless sound that the MKI provides. They did fit more snug than the MKI for me though.
  11. I enjoyed them immensely when I listened to them on Andys rig, shame I didn't get to try them out on the BHSE, I was too busy listening to the O2s on that. From what I listened to, they are quite special, but the music selection I think suited them quite well. Most of the music I heard with the SR-Omegas was more diffused and minimally milked which requires less resolving power to begin with. Put some music on thats not natrually diffused and watch the SR-Omegas fall rapidly behind the O2s! Anyways though, I loved the SR-Omegas. You can't beat their headstage size and energy. Now if only that Waddragon guy wasn't the only guy selling his!
  12. Wow what a great meet. My girlfriend and I enjoyed ourselves so much over this weekend. It was great to meet and chat with new people and some i've met before. Thank you Andy for sharing some space to safely stash my O2s and other goodies I brought while I wandered around from room to room. Al it was very nice meeting you, you were very kind and gracious to point me and my girlfriend out to the nice pre-meet friday night, as well as the whole meet. And of course, everyone that organized, and attended the meet, it was a world class event, thats for sure.
  13. Is it too late to still order a shirt to pick up on sat?
  14. Tell tale signs of an underdriven Omega II. Nonetheless cool review.
  15. Yay Andy, you acquired the SR-Omega finally! Enjoy them, I've never heard the SR-Omega but I hope to hear one at Canjam if given the opportunity.
  16. Is the Burr-Brown PCM 1704 the same dac chip used in the Esoteric D-01 Separate?
  17. ahh much more helpful in English...thx. Did you get your hands on a pair of 404LE yet?
  18. I'm glad to hear that your O2s are not humming anymore, enjoy them!
  19. Haha, many wish they could own such a variety of high-end phones. Are you planning on bringing the monster rigs to canjam? Although the ES-2 is pretty much unattainable at this point, it would be an amazing piece to complete the electrostatic parade of amps that are about to go down. Plus that APL is lovely as a source.
  20. I agree with Icarium when he says he cannot comprehend how one cannot be wowed by the HE90 initially. On Andys ES2 the HE90 is insanely fast and open. Notes are extremely "lit" in its soundstage. The sound is very majestic upon first listen. But switch over to the O2s on the same rig and the control on the recording is leaps and bounds ahead of the HE90. The bass for example, on the HE90 is just not acceptable compared to a well driven O2. I remember listening to a track from AIR which had a nice bass intro. The O2s presented this short bass intro in no other way i've ever heard. It was as if just the bass part was like an entire complex orchestral piece. It feels like you could make an entire 5 min. song out of just the bass, thats how dynamic the O2s can be. It just does not have as much energetic "charge" as the HE90 in regards to the phones soundstage, which has enormous wow factor intitally.
  21. Love the case work. The all silver + glass(plexiglass) is really eye catching.
  22. Currawong, what are you using as a transport to your Ref. 1?
  23. The AKM 32bit Dac is interesting to me as I commonly see people refering to it as a wonderful sounding Dac. Also to add that it seems to be found in a couple very high end sources such as the APL NWO 3.0 GO and Esoteric D-05 Dac. I myself have auditioned the APL NWO 3.0 and I do realize that it has something insane like twenty 32bit converters in each channel, but I cannot forget that smooth yet detailed sound I enjoyed so much. This is why I want to audition the D-05 and APL Denon 3910.(with the AKM dac) I have a couple questions about sources that would help clarify my understanding. First, im sure that its not just the dac in a source that determines the sound quality but other factors such as transport, output stage ect. But what are main factors in what makes a high quality source? Second, take this dac for example:Cary Audio Xciter DAC - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio It seems to incorporate the AKM Dac, but would this be a viable option for me to audition since I have interest in this Dac chip? Im looking for sources that have the AKM Dac to audition because im intrigued with the sound of it and would also like more information and general knowledge about this dac and sources in general.
