  1. Learned what a ground loop can do to an amp's sound... and worked in the lab.

    Battlestar Galactica

I think a few things were missing near the end, but it was a pretty action-packed episode, and still lay a good foundation for the next few shows as they explore Anders (the teaser for next week was again tanatilzing) and there's still the "WTF is up with Starbuck" story line... I watch BSG with a group of friends and we stick around to chat after the show. One person mentioned that unlike other shows, BSG tends to have shorter story arcs instead of long ones drawn out over many episodes (the mutiny could have easily been a 4-5 episode long arc). The prime example is New Caprica - one minute Baltar's given the order to settle, the next minute it's 10 months later. Personally, I love it - I'm really starting hate Hollywood's long, boring, predictable, did I mention long? arcs in TV shows (think Heroes).
  3. I find the TF10s great - I'm very happy with them! The "flip-flop" mod solves this - I can lie down on my side with my TF10s and listen to music. I use mine at the gym with no problems. Again, the flip-flop mod helped with this - w/o it they tend to fall out when I was walking sometimes. I use Shure black foam tips - the Comply's tended to pinch in my ear, which attenuated trebles. So the cable makes a good amount of difference for you? I'm still debating whether to get it or not.

I was VERY pleased with the ending of tonight's episode, although I'd've liked them to show the actual act!
  5. A DIY CKKIII from someone on H-F that has a crappily high noise floor

Or dead - that grenade was probably a flashbang, but what if it wasn't...
  7. Had an off day in the lab. After finding out in the morning that my overnight experiment (and thus the past two weeks of work) were a loss, I managed to get flaming ethanol on my (gloved) hands not once, nor twice, but thrice. On the second attempt I also managed to get flaming ethanol on the plastic gas tubing that feeds the bunsen burner and almost melted it through... Thank goodness it's time to go home.

Given his state of mind, I think he "dreamed" it up. I don't believe that person is the fifth quite yet. (also, too anti-climatic!)

I don't think she is. Wasn't she in the fleet when Deanna said "there are four cylons in your fleet"?

Only if they show him squirming, expanding, then exploding a la Schwarzenegger in Total Recall!
  11. Hey Smeggy - how does the gamma1 sound compared to that Spitfire you're selling?
  12. Same here - I'm about to buy a SR-5/SRD-6 headphone/amp combo as it's the only affordable attempt at listen to Stax I'm willing to make at the moment.
  13. Funny thing... that's what my roommate said. Hopefully my "iron constitution" will hold out.
  14. Could you speak up a bit, I can't hear ya. Holy hell!

You're right, Baltar does need to die, but so should Gaeta - he's guilty of treason. I'd say they should space him, but it'd be so much more satisfying to see his head get blown off.
  16. I had "no name" Hamburger Helper for the first time... it was quite good for $1.49!
  17. -12 db on the music, using my Pico and TF10s. My ears suck.

    Battlestar Galactica

Agreed. I watch with a group of 5 or so fellow grad students every week, and I was commenting last week that the first two eps of the season were slow (excluding the suicide). This week was quite good though. I hope RDM doesn't disappoint and someone blows Gaeta's head off before the series is over.
  19. Well, if a desktop amp is out of the question, I think the Pico will do you very, very well. I love my Pico with my IEMs (the sound is amazing), and with the gain set to high it does a good job with my HD600s. The only other portable amp I've heard is an XM5 (OPA134/BUF634) and I like the Pico much more.
  20. Spent $200 on a vet bill to find out that my cat is just fine, and the vet has no idea why she pukes randomly. Oh - and watched BSG. Whoa.
  21. I think the Pico has enough power to drive my HD600s, but my true love for it is with my IEMs at my desk at work. The combo sounds amazing with all the techno/electronica I listen to.
  22. Has anyone here heard the gamma-1? Is it in the league(s) of the higher-priced DACs people have mentioned here (Apogee, Opus, Bel Canto)?
  23. I wonder if Nate's joined that facebook group...
  24. I see it too, emanating from the "stem".
