  1. As soon as I read your comment....I giggled:D Damn them all I say:eek:.......HD800's I luuuuv em.
  2. Hi arnesto, Another note worthy thing, I was supposed to sign when I received the package. But I wasn't home so the UPS man dropped the box into my backyard over a 6 foot fence. The headphones weren't damaged, but the flight box in comes in has a crushed corner. I guess it is something to get bothered about. But oh well, nothing can be done about it now. The above I couldn't believe (what is wrong with people:mad:.) You must have been a little vexed at the time of finding this in your back yard in this manner. Everything that you have said comparing the 600's to the 800's is what I found with my HD800's and am very pleased with this refinement. I would never get rid of my 600's though, have upgraded the cables and should be receiving new headband padding within the next couple of weeks. Have you signed up for your personalised certificate by registering your serial number on Sennheiser site.? Sincere Regards
  3. Your reply made me smile.....Fantastic!!!! I like you already:D:palm: Weldone:rolleyes:
  4. 1) HD800's I can now say after many hours listening are at the top. 2) HD600's 3) HD650's (but this could become 2nd as I have taken delivery of my upgraded from standard issue, to replacment ''Kimber Kable'' of which I of which I shall connect in the morning when I arrive home. All the best guys
  5. Received my HD 800's on Tuesday-11th at 10:30 approx. Very Happy with the service from Sennheiser, of which is a credit to them as a company and of their products. A very happy customer I am. Thanks all:D
  6. Hi pearljam5000, Good to hear from you and thank you. Apart from the odd cheap pair years'' and I mean! years ago it's has been Sennheisers ever since HD600's and 650's, of which the 650's will receive the upgraded ''Kimber Kable'' Wednesday-12th August, so shall look forward to hearing any differences when I get the time to listen to them at length. I would like to try the AKG 701's with upgraded cables, have come close to owning these and yet so far..... Honest Regards
  7. I finally have them. I received / was woken up with ''THE'' phone call from the retailer at around 09:30, to let me know that the headphones had arrived, then went back to sleep again until around 10:30, when the post arrived. I then gradually came around, pulled myself together, got dressed and went straight(oh no road works) had to take the long route. Parked in their rear car park, John & Mohammed were itching to see the goods. opened the box and was impressed straight away with the immaculate build quality, the ear pads soo soft. I explained after about ten minutes that I had to go, as I am also waiting for a large rug to be delivered...so I better go. Got in, turned on my system and let it warm up(not really ha! ha!) 2mins on, plugged the headphone jack(very high quality gold on the jack I must say.) the first thing that impressed me about HD800's when placing them on my head and ears was the comfort, then with the sound, and of course not forgetting that I don't have a dedicated headphone amp yet. The sound is best on medium setting and not loud, it's as though a thin veil had been lifted, neutral sounding(the headphones let the music do the work without adding their own design character influence in anyway.) yes they do you may say! but with this very clever design ''all things considered'' doesn't detract from, or add anything other than doing the job properly with music. The soundstage is fuller, richer, more spatial and expansive, hearing slight symbals(high frequencies clearer than before.) I thought whilst listening ''what about when I connect this to a dedicated headphone amp'' and got excited with this prospect. The build quality cannot be faulted at all, with full instruction brochure which comes with this, explaining about the hard work that went into searching for the best materials, how to take care of them and the importance of a headphone amp. I only had about 1 1/2 hrs listening so will look forward to longer tests with high quality classical music recordings and SACD playback when I get all things set up correctly. These babies are truly built to last, and no doubt cable manufactuers will produce after market cables for them in time, although the cable supplied is well above average....time will tell on how long the cable will last(just an observation that's all.) I am happy with this purchase.
  8. My experience with Headphones apart from Sennheiser is ''0'', so please forgive my limited knowledge in general guys' 1) Sennheiser HD800's Which will be in my hands as of Tuesday-11th August....looking forward to a long listening test....at home before I go to work.....I FEEL LIKE A KID ABOUT TO RECEIVE A NEW TOY 2) Sennheiser HD650's with standard cable, but this will hopefully change as of this week when I take delivery of ''The Kimber Kable upgrade''. 3) Sennheiser HD600's with ''Kimber Kable'' not sure if they sound better than the 650's or not, hard to tell but then again I havn't been able to test these against the 650's for some time, as the lead broke on the right side.....I will truly be glad when all of my quality leads arrive before Friday-14th August. I have to admit that I am happy with Sennheiser headphones, and shall look forward to purchasing a decent headphone amp when available funds come along. Thanks to a number of members who have given myself helpful advice, as I deeply appreciate their time. Honest Regards
  9. Hey Dusty Chalk, Thanks for that I shall send him a message and ask Genuine Thank you
  10. I have been reading up on these and wonder if they are any good. If anyone can shed light on these, or you have these items yourself then please could you let me know what you think. Shall look forward to hearing from others at some stage. Sincere Thanks
  11. 1) Today I paid for my HD800's of which are arriving on Tuesday 11th August.....and looking forward to the phone call when they come in. 2) Kimber Kable replacment for my HD650's (of which are long over due.) 3) Kimber Kable extention lead for headphones in general. 4) Paid off a small loan before it's first deffered payment in full. A great day
  12. Received a phone call Thursday-06th to let me know thet are on their way. Friday-07th the retailer rang Sennheiser, who have informed them that they will have the HD800's on Tuesday. Very happy so far with their service:), yes I know they cost a great deal but all the same ''I speak as I find'' and so far so good...i'm happy:D
  13. Placed my order on 13-03-2009 and have been told that I am 2nd on the list of the second batch.....Rang Sennheiser Direct and found them very helpful indeed.....pleasant and polite. They will be ringing me once every 2 weeks on my mobile with any updates. They told me a couple of things in confidence.......Suffice to say, that Sennheiser are very serious about this model HD800, and want to get it right with each heaphone leaving their factory. only 25 so far sold in the UK 1st batch. P.S. John willett thank you for the message.
  14. boomana? I agree with you on the Sennheiser getting it right even though I hav'nt listened to the HD 800's I am still buying then ''with a deposit placed'' I never listened to my HD600's or 650's but read reviews about them before hand and just went for it, would never part with them. It's subjective from one person to the next ''with slight hearing differences'' Then apart from that is matching them with the right Heaphone amp, that not only suites the Headphones, but each person. The headphone amp market knows that there are slight differences and cater for this, in the hope of getting their market share, especially for different designs(valve amps with their unique character,) ect.... That's why forum sites ''HEAD CASE'' are so important, with the members who have a great deal of knowledge experiences, of which comes at great expence.....Each reply is so important, as people (members or guest's to this site,) read very carfully in most cases. I have learned many things since joining this site and have found out about a number of product's of which I never knew about before joining. I enjoy reading what others share with each other and weigh up the pro's and not so very carefully.........I appreciate all that I read hear and thank you to everyone.
  15. Took delivery of Pioneer Kuro 6090 in May, which has taken 17mths waiting and will be completed this Friday. A few imported CD Albums from the US. Kitchen items and some indoor Plants.
  16. The Squid and the Goblin shark pictures are amazing... Great Viewing.....quite frightening indeed. Well' you learn something new every day. Thanks
  17. Grahame, Wow!......Thank you!.... I wasn't expecting this from anyone, so your time and effort in replying is much appreciated. Yourself and Beefy have helped me to understand this better. My system is currently not in an ideal setup stage, as I have to purchase 2 AV stands to house all of my equipment correctly. All of this has been a 11 1/2 year journey of which has been TOUGH! The day this is all housed properly will be very emotional time for me. Thanks again P.S. Yes I have the manual for the amp, and the Headphone Amp ''when purchased'' will have good instructions.
  18. Hi Beefy, Thanks ever so much for clarifying this for myself...appreciate your time. A great deal of the guys on this site, their Headphone, amp AV and HiFi knowledge is very high....and so reassures myself that I will get the best out of what I aim to purchase, advice, ect..... Thanks again P.S. Have learnt a lot since joining this site.
  19. Hi Guys, Now the following enquiry may come accross as being something silly, but I would greatly appreciate your help! So here goes:palm: When I finally purchase my first headphone amp, how should I connect this to an AV amp that already has a headphone input socket. When plugging in headphones the external speakers, ''as you all know'' cut off and the sound automatically goes through the headphones I currently have a Denon AVC A1SE, of which I intend to keep hold of, so do I place a headphone jack adaptor in the socket, and connect the headphone amp into the analogue inputs, unless the amp has Digital Coax / or fiber optic....will this be correct. This is a new area for me ''to be honest'' so please be gentle with me I shall look forward to hearing from yourselves at your convenience. Humble Regards to all P.S. The Lexicon MC12B & LX7 amp that I shall be taking delivery of in November, is straight forward to connect...as no headphone socket.
  20. Saturday-18th I slept all day (working night's,) so plenty of zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz;D
  21. Hi pabbi1, Elephas. Have Just read your views about the HD 800 and have deeply understood what your saying. Also this shows just how much effort has been placed in respecting and analising all of what you say....Sennheiser have obviously given this much thought in getting things right, and for good reason. Really enjoyed reading both of your experiences with the above headphones and shall greatly look forward to owning my pair of HD800's.......after waiting 4 1/2 months now, I know that this will be worth the wait. To be honest'' this will be one of my highlight of purchases for this year....... I am a bit of a novice on this site, but appreciate the knowledge & experiences found here, and deeply appreciate the help that others give with getting the best out of my system. Thank you all. P.S. Like those who have said, that it's not about seeking perefection that counts ''it's when everything fits the illusion and the enjoyment''....I totally agree with this.
  22. Thanks or possibly a little of both.......

  25. The EAR HP4 is a quality looking piece of equipment that I would dearly love to own some day. The price for such kicks is very high thou, so who knows. I shall have to listen to this in time.
