  1. Hey, you're referring to the heater fead? It would probably be a lot quieter with a whole rewire job I guess. But it wouldn't look as kewl!
  2. Hey, yeah it has 2 Power cords, each feeding a Transformer. I was looking at those heater runs as well, but they would be kinda a pain to change.
  3. It seems that it is a Family characteristic of this amp in that it hums a "little" with Low impedance cans. Here's the inside of the amp for anyone interested. The JPG is big, beware. http://www.turbonet.biz/misc/337seReview/AAA_1430.JPG
  4. I thought some of you guys might have done this before. I haven't been able to find any pix of the inside yet.
  5. Any you guys know what's in this box? [url=http://www.head-fi.org/forums/6245035-post760.html]Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio - View Single Post - REVIEW: Audiotailor
  6. I seriously doubt it is hiding in your house... If I were you I would cruise past the ATM machine though and just check, you might find it there...
  7. Pretty Sharp, looks like it works! Nice Meter!
  8. I founded it. It's about 100mb. I'm uploading it, may take a little bit. I'll PM the link. It's 3.3. Enjoy, Post some screenshots!
  9. I believe I have a copy on disc somewhere, I'll look around. I'll send you a link after I upload it to my server. It's too big to email I think.
  10. I don't know how to make my observation clearer, sorry.
  11. I'm mystified that that pic would offend more than the usual language that is the norm here. Didn't see that one coming.
  12. This confirms something i've noticed over the years. Chicks Dig Electrostats! WARNING NSFW http://philip.greenspun.com/images/pcd3391/manipulated/speaker-5.jpg
  13. Hmmm, didn't think or consider that. I was just going to pick up some 303's for testing, but that seems a lot of $$$ to tie up just to test. So them thought about some lower end older STAX. I want something to test listen with before plugging in O2s. I'll look over the 003s, thanx!
  14. I have a question about the SR-80s. Can you plug and run them off a 'Pro" bias amp? I'm looking for some "test" stats.
  15. FOTM! FTW! I also just tested the hfe function on it which is pretty sharp as well. There is a little wheel of holes with 4 different ways to plugin NPN and PNP transistors and select hfe on the selector. Works like a charm!
  16. I was comparing to my Fluke which was close to $400 retail and close to $300 street. Amazon.com: Fluke 87-5 Digital Multimeter: Home Improvement
  17. Mini Review of VC99 So I ordered one of the VC99s last week from a guy in California. I bought Late on Thursday and revived it today, nice! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380176463237&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT It is not a Fluke. It was $29.49 + $10 shipping. It is worth the cash in my opinion. The temp input is interesting. I haven't played much with it to see how fast it is. The auto ranging is a little slow. You notice this the most when you are trying to test continuity with the spkr on. It takes a second or so to stabilize. Fluke has quicker internal processing, at 10-15x the price of course. It doesn't have a backlight, that's a shame. The display is very large, Like a Fluke 179, very easy to read for us folks whose eyes are ancient. The hfe measurement will be fun to try. The switch and case are not Fluke quality but are "pretty" good. It's a world better in every regard from the last $15 meter I got free with a battery. The probes are worth about $10 alone, they seem to be made pretty well. It has a rubberized covering that is a little harder plastic than the fluke rubberized cover, the color is more orange than the Fluke yellow. I haven't checked all it's specs in exacting detail, but I think it checked bigger caps on the cap test than MY Fluke which is an Original 87 model. The function buttons look like Drunken Master installed them. They are all crooked. I noticed this in the pix online before I purchased it. However, they all seem to be very solid and other than cosmetically bad, there aren't any issues. All in all, it seems worth the $29 + shipping. I would buy another.
  18. Lokks like a great Stocking Stuffer for all your Audiophile friends. Season's Greetings!
  19. I'm sure there will be few opportunities to use the word "cheaper" in this project! Indulge yourself!
