  1. One more Stephen Gill post as I find his work fascinating and you may too. He followed the above with Please Notify the Sun. "It was in 2017 that I began to have an inkling that a single fish might contain a universe of infinite proportions and how amazing a journey within its body could be. So I started to research everything I would need to embark on such an expedition. By January 2020 I had built a work top, obtained a microscope, a camera, optics, lights and fridge." https://collectordaily.com/stephen-gill-please-notify-the-sun/ https://americansuburbx.com/2021/02/stephen-gills-sublime-decay-please-notify-the-sun.html
  2. Hey, hey, wanna waste some time with me?
  3. Happy another trip around the sun!
  4. In the consumerism thread, I mentioned tracking down a copy of The Pillar by Stephen Gill, a self-published photobook that made waves a few years ago. Thought some of you may enjoy a few shots also. https://www.newyorker.com/culture/photo-booth/karl-ove-knausgaard-on-stephen-gills-bird-images-in-the-pillar https://www.1854.photography/2019/07/the-pillar-by-stephen-gill/ https://www.photohastings.org/book-review-the-pillar-by-stephen-gill/

Is anyone still buying video physical media? If so, Criterion has a 24 hour 50% off sale for anything in stock. https://www.criterion.com
  8. I thought his name was Michael Knight

  10. The Hifi Company So Good it Killed Them (Nakamichi)
  11. To honor Indigenous Peoples' Day I watched eight episodes of The Hunting Wives. It’s half General Hospital, half Baywatch, half Goodfellas, half Mean Girls, and half Stepford Wives with a sprinkling of real sexism & Red/Blue commentary. Sure it’s ridiculous and awful, but I’m not sure it’s bad.
  12. Wait, has anyone watched The Hunting Wives? Suddenly it seems interesting.
  13. Sorry to hear. Maybe Hall, Reds, or Looking for Mr. Goodbar here.
  14. In the Wake of the Edmund Fitzgerald https://www.nytimes.com/2025/10/10/arts/edmund-fitzgerald-gordon-lightfoot.html?unlocked_article_code=1.sk8.MyaM.8WtsXHa1Kr_6&smid=url-share (gift article)
  15. ^ Never understood going after Mann. Have two of her books. Spent Sunday at a lowrider event at Montalvo, likely my last one of 2025. Decided to take two cameras and have a little test between them - a dusty, slow Hassy 500cm with II 50c 50MP digital back & old Zeiss Distagon 50 f/4 T* and a shiny, snap-like Sigma 24MP BF (Beautifully Foolish) with a matching new 35 f/2 Contemporary. For fun shot at 1:1, which most definitely isn’t natural for me. Hassy Sigma

  17. Sorry, I was remote. I would have definitely reached out Al if in person. Hope you and Claire had a good time. Anyone catch Steve Earle? I don’t pretend to be objective there, but was messy fun, especially in the shadow of the Dukes breakup at HSB years ago. Will throw on The Mountain in a few minutes. Will miss tomorrow, unfortunately. Hope everyone enjoys.
  18. She and Leventhal are pretty great. Smiled the most so far with Albert Lee.
  19. Samara Joy and jumping back over to Rose City Band here (sadly overlapping).
  20. ^ Walden Green (Pitchfork) agrees with Petridis on Romantic https://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/taylor-swift-actually-romantic/ ‘I’m also filling out my Jack Antonoff apology card as we speak, now that Max Martin and Shellback—ostensibly the great pop minds of the century—have aided and abetted in a song that sounds like the Kidz Bop version of the Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind?”’
