  1. Wet Leg - Moisturizer ex. a little more
  2. I didn’t see this one coming. “CRT enthusiasts” are here. https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20250911-the-people-who-hunt-down-old-tvs
  3. I forgot about the Apple event today, but the camera changes, including combined cameras and square front facing sensor, are interesting moves. Also liquid cooling. Plus if you thought iPhones were too fat...
  4. This one hits. Saw them only once, when running spotlight at a show. I regained most of my hearing about a week later.
  5. Omar El Akkad's One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This. 'On October 25, 2023, after just three weeks of the bombardment of Gaza, Omar El Akkad put out a tweet: "One day, when it's safe, when there's no personal downside to calling a thing what it is, when it's too late to hold anyone accountable, everyone will have always been against this."' I don't know how the recent-ish three short, but very different, including author's backgrounds, Ta-Nehisi Coates', Peter Beinart's and now (in my reading order) Omar El Akkad's books are/will be taken, but this one hit hardest for me. Part of that may be being a parent/view towards the future. All certainly worth a read. May hit Finkelstein's next.
  6. Another trip around the sun. Hope it’s a great one.
  7. After the air disaster article linked in the reading thread where Rear Admiral Moffett doesn’t exactly come off well, decided to return today with Esmé to the Moffett Field Museum that’s five minutes from our house. Of course the museum is about the place, not the man the place is named after, and the emphasis is on the USS Macon, once docked here, not its sister ship the USS Akron, where Moffett and nearly the entire crew perished (twice those of Hindenburg), all in the pursuit of military rigid airship supremacy (20/20 of course on what was accomplished there), but sometimes strange how heroes are selected. Bonus: Tom Cruises. Still a great, volunteer-led tiny museum
  8. I'm not sure Sen. John Kennedy has seen it either.
  9. The Worst Air Disaster You’ve Never Heard Of Captain, that was a lilly dilly! https://magazine.atavist.com/2025/american-hindenberg-zeppelin-disaster?src=longreads

  11. More Eagly. More James Gunn. Season two (HBO Max).
  12. Went to the San Jose Lowrider Day downtown today. Quick visit, but some snaps from Hassy 907x 50c with XCD 45p (4x3) and Nikon Df with CV 40mm f/2 (3x2). Funny enough I liked more Nikon shots.
  13. Hilarious three part The Dollop podcast on Bo Gritz who after serving in the Vietnam War, used a cheerleading camp, psychics, sex workers and Clint Eastwood's donations to "lead" various failed attempts to rescue MIA POWs that didn't exist (and that's just the first episode). Failing up as they say, he was a "hero" and was supposedly the inspiration for an A-Team character and several Chuck Norris films. Later he showed up at Ruby Ridge and ran for president with the slogan "God, guns, and Gritz". Ahead of your time there Bo. If only you waited until 2016. Well, exists for two films because George Miller "nudged" the $tudio . In Furiosa there is selective color when it's important, like flare signals or a red apple. Normally a no-no, but I think it works here.
  16. The Development of the Rangefinder
  17. Lawmen: Bass Reeves. Kind of seems like it should be called Lawman: Bass Reeves, but I'll take it. Based on the true story of an escaped slave who became a peace officer for over 30 years, with 3,000 arrests, including his son. You may also recognize the name from the Tulsa/"Black Wall Street" open of Watchmen.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Black & Chrome edition is available for purchase on Apple TV for $4.99 for anyone interested. It's a little dark, but I think it looks better than the Fury Road Black & Chrome version. May help those with CGI issues with the color.
  19. Also Terence Stamp at 87 https://www.salon.com/2025/08/17/terence-stamp-general-zod-and-film-icon-dead-at-87/
