All the parts to make this: Including this: And I'll be ordering my glass mosaic tile tomorrow for the backsplash... Edit: Unassembled in my den: All to fill this space, which is coming along nicely...

I think he was poking fun at Larry, who claims that anyone who has the audacity to mod Grados with wood is taking money from his pocket, especially if the person hasn't first consulted with him, John Grado and I don't know, God him/herself for permission. I know he spoke pretty harshly about me to more than one person because of the few pairs of cups I did for fun and sold at cost.

I hate C-Pads, but that right there makes me want to come up with an alternative...
-
Indeed.
-
I think letting the mods have their way with the custom titles works out best for everyone involved.

Evil! And no link... I stopped into a flooring store this afternoon and saw exactly what I was looking for on the first sample board just inside the front door. But despite the small area (30 sq. ft. or so) of backsplash, upwards of $20/sq. ft. is more than I can really spend.

I do want to... My first thought was "What can I dump for cash?" Unfortunately the answer was nothing of note. Certainly nothing that would make it possible.

Found out the mosaic glass tile I wanted for my kitchen backsplash was waaaaaaaaaay more expensive than I thought.

x2 How to make a Grado dull, uninvolving, unbalanced and generally sound like shit? Add C-Pads! Seriously, though... Muddy bass, muted highs and the mid-magic that is really the strongpoint of most Grados is lost.

Speaking of which, last week's was a tough watch. Bleak and depressing... Hit me like few other episodes in the series. Or I was just really tired

Deal. Send me a fully function silver APC and I'm sure I can get you a non-functioning black Monster Power unit in 6-8 months.
-
Send it to me for modifications. I'll also perform mods you didn't authorize, take months to do it, charge for some of the mods, but then offer others for free to offset delays in shipping. Then I'll promise to ship it more times than you can count. Hell, I'll even offer to fly it back to you once delays become intollerable. Then I'll probably just send something other than what you originally sent me. Deal?

I forget if this was covered when you migrated from SMF, but is there any way to get the notification that a post has been added while typing a reply when you hit Post? That was a great feature.

While I'd agree that Lost has been less than consistent, it more than makes up for that with it's ambition. I'd prefer to watch an ambitions show occasionally fall flat on its face over a show that aims low and hits that target every time Having said that, Chuck has been the most consistent and entertaining show for me the last few years. I don't think they've misstepped yet.

Worked with my dad this morning to run water and waste lines to the new sink location in the ongoing kitchen renovation. Then headed into the office late. Off to a site visit next.

In the tradition of the following threads... '07 Mid-Year Report Card '07 Year-End Report Card '08 Mid-Year Report Card ... it seemed time, or even past time, to revisit this tradition. Each year I find an album or two worth checking out thanks to the impressions in these threads by those here at the -Case. Unfortunately my preliminary list has 30 titles released in '08, and countless others that are a year or two old but are new to me. So I'm going to need to make some time to sit down and go through them, slap a grade on each and follow up with the appropriate comments. Despite tales of the downfall of good music, I found this year to be better than decent (even if a few stinkers managed to sneak through). I hope everyone else was as fortunate. So while I don't have anything right now, I figured I'd at least get the ball rolling so people could start putting some thoughts together... Let's hear what you think, be it or or even

Hahahahahahaha! That's almost the exact same pose she does... Rolls over, and looks at me like "There's no f'ing way I'm going out there!" It takes some doing once the leash is on to get her out of her bed.

Man that combo was amazing

The ECD-1 was paired with a pretty nice Marantz CD player as a transport, and the amp was Mark's (Voodochile) custom Mapletree Ear with 600/Cardas or 650/Zu and HF-1s.

Yeah, the greyhound is having a rough first winter up from FL. Not impressed is putting it mildly. Walks are the same distance, but take significantly less time

And it was Al's large painting in his listening room that made me think of doing this.

Thanks everyone... I love it. Anyway, today I aborted a trip to Dartmouth for a meet 'cause of the snow... Got about 20 minutes out and had to turn around. Being Sunday, they hadn't touched the roads, and a 1:45 minute drive probably would've taken 3 1/2 hours.

Picked up a painting by my aunt... Backstory: I wanted the graphics from a CD as wall art for my place, and while I was almost an art (education) major, it's been years since I've painted anything but walls, trim or car parts. So I asked my aunt, a very talented artist, if she'd be interested in painting it for me. Since she was so happy with the deal I gave her on my old Gateway laptop she wouldn't accept any money for supplies. We talked about doing it on a large canvas, but in the end thought it would be more interesting to break it up over 4 or 6 canvases. And since my ceilings are so high, I needed something on a pretty large scale. So once the holiday rush was over, she set to work, and she emailed me this week letting me know it was all done. I swung by on my way up to my folks' place today. Now I just need to figure out how to hang it on my sloped walls! Total dimensions are 38" x 31" or so. Needless to say, I'm thrilled with how it came out. I can't wait to get it hung! [edit] I'm going to hang it over my TV, seen here. [/edit]

I've watched it 4 times now... Twice on my HTPC after downloading it, and twice on BluRay. Love it, and man does it look great through the PS3!

Maybe because the ED9s, at best, are polarizing and not for everyone and at worst (or should I say more realistically) suck ass? Plus, Ultrasone can't really be considered in the same league as Sennheiser when it comes to name recognition among audiophiles or have close to the same market share. If the HD-800 ends up being as advertised, I'm guessing they won't have any issue moving them, regardless of the price.
