  1. I have one of the self-cleaning Brauns... Paid around $200 a few years ago. I've been very happy with it, and the self-cleaning makes it feel like new.
  2. No you can't. Ordered! Might be for me, might be a gift.
  3. Ugh. I liked the original remote for the first few generations of the iPod, but it had a female plug so you could use it with any headphone. This is just bad news. Looks like I'll be hoping my current Shuffle holds up. I am curious how the voice prompts turn out. I have a Phatbox in my VW, and I use the AT&T Natrual Voice of Audrey to generate those promts. It's always nice to have a woman's voice with a Brittish accent tell me what's playing. I doubt the Shuffle will have this option!
  4. Sounds like a fun little project. My kitchen remodel continues... Cabintes are in, ceiling and most of the walls are good to go and . Just got the light fixtures squared away yesterday. Now it's onto the switches and outlets, appliances, backsplash, counter, cabinet doors & hardware, pantry shelving and flooring. Good luck!
  5. It's one of my favorite books of the last 10 years. It didn't feel long to me, either time I read it. I've never been able to get into his fantasy stuff, but the rest of his stuff is great. Summer of Night is amazing, as are the subsequent novels with the characters from that book as adults, like Darwin's Blade and A Winter Haunting. I'm really looking forward to starting Drood, right after I finish re-reading The Historian.
  6. I picked it up last week... It's next on my list. Either of you guys read The Terror?
  7. Black ceramic cooktop & the light fixtures for my kitchen. I may be able to cook again sometime next week!
  8. [butthead] Huh, huh... Huh, huh... You said 'pork'... Huh, huh. [/butthead]

To paraphrase Nader on the Corvair for Seinfeld... "Unsafe Not funny at any speed price."
  10. The only release date I've seen for the vinyl is 03/10 for the UK pressing.
  11. Less annoying talk about crappy headphones. More talk about amazing album. I'd have to say that while it didn't start as my favorite track, "The Pharaohs" has grown into one of my favorites, if not my top track. Of course, upon finally getting the disc and reading the booklet I see that's the one she wrote with The Sadies, who also co-wrote my favorite track from Fox Confessor..., "Hold On, Hold On".
  12. My CD copy of Middle Cyclone, of course... Store opened @ 9:30, and I was ready!

You've clearly never heard them, either
  14. Well, global warming melts the ice caps. And fresh water migrating south from the melted ice is significantly denser than sea water. This dense mass of fresh water will start to divert the gulf stream in the North Atlantic west before it gets too far north. The lack of those warm water currents would result in a significant drop in the water temperature of the North Atlantic, meaning the eastern seaboard could see significant cooling before things get warmer. Doubt that's the cause for the last few winters, though.
  15. Happy Birthday Nate!
  16. I wouldn't mind it so much if the guy the association hired to plow the parking didn't plow me in every fucking time, especially considering I was the only one up this morning who had actually already shoveled out. So yeah, doing it twice... Not fun.
  17. Well, I would agree with you. Scarling is more mature and refined... It was formed at some point after Jack Off Jill split up. I'm guessing some of that is from Christian Hejnal and his influence on sound and songwriting in Scarling. And no, I haven't heard Hansyl and Gretyl.
  18. You remember correctly. Great stuff, though it should be noted there was a pretty dramatic shift in style between the debuts (EP Band Aid Covers the Bullet Hole & LP Sweetheart Dealer are much closer to Jack Off Jill) and the follow-up (So Long, Scarecrow), which is gorgeous noisey neo-shoegazer rock. I like JOJ quite a bit as well, though it shouldn't be surprising since Jessicka is the singer and main creative force behind both.
  19. Didn't buy it recently... In fact, bought it so long ago that I had forgotten about it completely until an email showed up with tracking info. Vaja leather case for my Omnia. Going to take some getting used to... The phone is pretty small and comfortable in my hand, and the case, especially when open, is significantly bigger. But I've also been lucky with my last few phones... Drops have resulted in very little damage. But I don't want to continue to press my luck! And I've been very happy with my Vaja iPod case.
  20. Happy Birthday!
  21. Yeah, sorry 'bout that
  22. OMG. Not reading it, but will when it comes out. 23. She plays the cello when she bobbles. Well, sort of. Seen here next to my headphone rig. Ridiculous, I know.
  24. It'll sit right next to my Melora bobble-head doll.
