What did you do today?
What, you didn't want to see Eve 6? I was @ Binghamton all weekend for the America East Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Man, downtown Binghamton is pretty sad... Looks like it was a pretty cool city, with lots of turn-of-the-century buildings, and a big downtown, but it seems like 3 out of every 4 buildings/store fronts are empty.

Cool... Just found the bootleg, await the official release! Thanks!- What are you listening to Part Two
Do tell.- Right driver in my HD650 busted
Be careful, Jack. Nate has doubled his rate. Of course, 2 x $0 still equals $0, but I wanted to make sure you were aware of the mark-up.- What are you listening to Part Two
Older stuff was definitely more interesting to me... More about mood and atmosphere. Comalies was kind of transitional, from their earlier stuff. Karmacode was OK, I guess. I think I like Shallow Life better.- What are you listening to Part Two
Lacuna Coil - Shallow Life Is it as good as Unleashed Memories, or Comalies? No. Does it deserve the venom being spewed upon it by Lacuna Coil "fans"? Not at all. Sure, it's an obvious effort towards mainstream success, but that's not always a bad thing.- What are you reading now?
Amazon.com: The Last Dickens: A Novel: Matthew Pearl: Books I really enjoyed The Dante Club & The Poe Shadow, so I gave this a shot, despite mediocre reviews. It's been very entertaining. And I'm looking forward to reading Dan Simmons' Drood next... Like movies, it's interesting two novels revolving around Dickens' last novel come out at the same time.- What did you do today?
Drove an hour north to deliver my Jeep to its new owner Now someone just needs to buy my GTI and I'll be happy again.- What are you listening to Part Two
Hooverphonic - The Magnificent Tree Which was preceeded by: Hooverphonic - A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular And: Hooverphonic - Blue Wonder Powder Milk And will no doubt be followed by: Hooverphonic - Jackie Cane- New RSA amp...
Think first, post... Well, let me rephrase that. Think first, second and third, post fourth. Probably not. You posted it, you get to live with it. That's why there is an editing limit. No backtracking, so (ideally) no posting without thinking. See where I'm going with this?- If you could live anywhere in the US where would it be and why?
I like the seasons, the ocean, the mountains and lakes. I live in northern New England to have all of that. Only other place I've ever considered is N. California, for the same reasons. CO, WY, UT, norther AZ or NM have been considered, but the distance from the ocean would likely do me in.- The Live Music Thread

While not the actual show I was at, here's a link to NPR's stream of her show from DC just a few days earlier. Neko Case And Will Sheff In Concert : NPR Music- The Live Music Thread
Neko Case & Crooked Fingers @ the Berklee Peformance Center in Boston... I had never heard Crooked Fingers before, and they were a pleasant surprise. 3-piece, with a guy playing guitar and singing, a woman playing bass and also singing and a guy who played drums, keyboards and programming. I'll be tracking down some of their stuff to be sure. And they were definitely a nice complement to the headliner. Speaking of which... Neko Case was amazing! It was an excellent set list and the band was amazing. It was a nice mix of new and old, with some deep cuts thrown in for good measure. And as is often the case, some of the songs from Middle Cyclone that I wasn't in love with really grew on my when played live. Highlights for me were the "co-written by The Sadies" block of "Hold On, Hold On" and "The Pharaohs", the crazy lap steel solo from "Deep Red Bells", the rocking "Red Tide", beautiful "Middle Cyclone" and "The Tigers Have Spoken". And countless others that were right up there. There just aren't the words to describe her voice live. It's so powerful, but it comes across as effortless at the same time. And best of all, she said they're probably swinging back through Boston in July!- What are you listening to Part Two
Nice... I'm heading out shortly to go down to Boston to see her tonight! Can't wait!- What are you listening to Part Two
I really like For Emma, Forever Ago. Blood Bank is pretty good, too. Definitely worth your time to check out.- Chuck

While Strange Little Girls is wildly uneven, there are 4 tracks that are pretty damn good... "New Age", "Enjoy the Silence", "Strange Little Girl" and "Rattlesnakes". The Beekeeper has no memorable tracks, at least for me. I can't even remember what the title track sounds like, and I heard it when listening to the A Piano compilation pretty recently.- What are you listening to Part Two
I love it too, and I'm also looking forward to AAtS. But The Beekeeper? Really? Such a forgettable and uninspired album. Definitely the low-point of her discography for me.- What are you listening to Part Two
The Gathering - The West Pole The more I listen, the more I this album.- Post the last thing you bought!
His meltdown was my favorite scene in the movie, and I had to have the shirt. Budget be damned! And while I bought it a while ago, this arrived yesterday... Amazon.com: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Classic Regency Romance - Now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem!: Jane Austen, Seth Grahame-Smith: Books Can't wait to start reading it!- What did you do today?
Rented a wet saw @ Home Depot & cut all of the granite tile for my counter top. Or I should say that I gave measurements for the cuts and my dad did all of the cutting. But the counter and backsplash should be all set after this week, leaving the floor and some trim. Wuhoo!!!- What are you listening to Part Two
What'd you think? I definitely dig it. Anneke leaving seems to have invigorated their songwriting. - What are you listening to Part Two
