Since you have the good Fostex T-50, as well as being a causual factor in the emergence of the neo orthos, I'd like to hear your review.
-
How about posting the graphs on the wikiphonia? It's for headphone info after all.

I fell asleep while listening last night, while worrying about how the LCD-2 skullcrushers might deform my head. I need to get the grip even lighter and I wouldn't mind softer pads. I wouldn't mind a less bulky cable either, if one can be had that doesn't ruin the sound or my wallet.

No planar in that headset

The LCD-2 ruins my sleep. It's too enjoyable to sit up late and listen to music.
-
I think it lives up to the hype very well. But my gear is clearly unworthy of this headphone. Nevertheless, some will surely want a brighter sound (I hate too bright sound, like the Grado SR-80), and some will want a midrange with an emotional coloration, like the Yamaha orthos do. Can't imagine so many people wanting more, better or deeper bass, or more uncolored sound though.... but who knows...
-
Got an equalizer now just in case I need to adjust the sound... but so far it's all good.
-
I've got to agree with Kabeer. What the LCD-1 did best, the open and airy sound is downplayed in the LCD-2, which instead has better bass and imaging. At least on my rig, Skylab mentions that with his gear it also has plenty of air.

Do you plan to find out whether it can stand the competition?

Might be a bit early for impressions... I've just figured out how to wear them properly. And that's with my head in a normal position. Now I am trying to take in how good these make my music sound... no need to think twice about that... these are a joy to listen through... on my CD player that is, they also brutally reveal some flaws in my mac laptop soundcard... They do keep a lot of their goodness also with my poor laptop as a source but the natural tone of instruments suffer, which sounds so great from the CD player. (I suppose I might have to go down to the studio to find out exactly how natural the instruments sound.). It appears they improve on the already great headstage of the LCD-1. A bit less emphasis on air than the LCD-1, and of course bass that runs a lot deeper (I'm starting to think that maybe the LCD-1 has an emphasis on air, whereas the LCD-2 doesn't emphasize... rather than having less emphasis...). A bit narrower headstage than the HD800, but with instruments basically in the same place of course (going from memory, but I memorized some instrument placements one song in particular very carefully.). The upgrade from the LCD-1 to the LCD-2 was an awesome deal from Audeze. It makes me even happier that I bought their LCD-1 to begin with. And I really like that they print a response curve for each set they make.

Zero Zero - Irrenanstalt From an old yellowing CD mixtape.

I wonder what those two holes on the sides of the cups are for.

Some lad across the street got my LCD-2 today. The trusty FedEx man had decided that since I wasn't at home probably it would be wise to just drop them off at some other house. What immediately caught my ear w these, as I am used to the LCD-1, was the very nice deep bass.
-
My LCD-1 feels the need to upgrade to it's better-looking friend... It's a very nice touch that they include a frequency graph for the particluar headphone. Is the serial number also engraved on the headphone somewhere?
-
They didn't actually say anything about a trade-in.... I thought .... well, no point in confusing things further . I confess right away now that I have no idea what the upgrade offer really is, and they wrote in the mail that they didn't want it distributed so I can't paste the mail here. (still waiting for more information...)

But there are no new plots to look at.

For 950, I want them tuned to sound great out of the box! Not so small waterfall now? (but what does it all mean.... ?)
-
-
One of the lines is the LCD-2, the texts below the image says.... (or does it even say that much...?)
-
Will that affect air or sparkle or headstage then? The LCD-1 has plenty of that, but lacks bass extension IMHO. (I can't afford to have both the 1 and the 2) For the price of the LCD-2, I'd like to have it all.
-
I just can't resist a steampunk-styled ortho, especially one that hopefully sounds as great as I expect the LCD-2 to do. Trade-in is more than fair I think. (I need something with more bass extension than the LCD-1. I hope the LCD-2 will deliver.)

I'm tuning in for a broadcast of your impressions!

Older versions (around 2001-2005) of the Harmony Design DA9 would also be close to what I'd like to pay. ( Harmony Design ). (the oldest are cheaper, the newer usually a bit more) Upgrading to the latest version costs about 200 euro so that is not an option (usually cheaper to buy a new one then).
