The LCD-1 has a square driver bolted to a thick piece of plastic that has exactly the same shape as the cups. Unfortunately, there is a printed circuit going to the driver, that's printed on the edge of the back side of the plastic piece. So, transplanting the driver would either mean making a new egg-shaped cup, or to get rid of that circuit. Maybe the driver can work without that circuit? Maybe not? With a more carefully made headset, it might sound even better than it does now. It lacks a bit of bass impact, but otherwise sounds great to me. The advantage of the stock headset is that it's very light - the entire headphone is very light actually. The huge cable ruins comfort a bit though.- What are you listening to Part Two

That's right. It just lies there in between the magnets and floats back and forth in the magnetic field as the current goes through the circuit on the diaphragm.- Audeze LCD-2
The stock cable is a bit clumsy and heavy. That's my only complaint with it. (And it's easy to change.... it's just not annoying enough at the moment....)- What are you listening to Part Two

I am stopping for now with the LCD-2 as well. After some months of listening, they pass the enjoyable listen test. Nothing appears dramatically missing / wrong / annoying with the LCD-2. I sure don't want anything less enjoyable than this sound.- What did you do today?
I went out in the snow and went down the small hill on my small sledge. An ass-piece of plastic. The kids had fun too.- Audeze LCD-2
So they are making fancy Dragonfire Acoustics graphs now instead of the old no-name graphs. I wonder if I could retro-fit that on my graph?- What are you listening to Part Two

My previous Dell chat from a few years ago went something like this: me: keyboard is broken dell rep: how about us coming over to fix it this afternoon? Maybe things have gone downhills since then?- Audeze LCD-2
It will - That's what it does. The reverse will also work, if you want more sliding action.- What are you listening to Part Two
- 15 year old DAC, or almost brand new DAC for around 200 euro?
Good question... I've got no high end gear unless the Arcam cd73 player counts.... But it brings out a nice airy sound from the LCD-2 so it appears to do the conversion as it should. I need to listen to some more music to hear if it has annoying flaws. The seller said it's basically unused (and it sure looks brand new) so it's not even burned-in (the manual recommends a whole month for burn-in ) Components could start breaking down anyway with age I suppose....- 15 year old DAC, or almost brand new DAC for around 200 euro?
That wasn't my best photoshop moment. Now the nice shiny metal case should be visible. Thick heavy metal )- 15 year old DAC, or almost brand new DAC for around 200 euro?

Time for first impressions! Power on! Optical cable connected to mac book pro Green led: ok Sound: only static Checking sound preferences.... optical digital 16 bit/48? Switching to optical 24/48... sound: ok- 15 year old DAC, or almost brand new DAC for around 200 euro?
It looks well made with it's thick steel case and steel front plate. Probably the case itself is worth what I paid for the dac. As a bonus, it features one useless optical deltran clock sync output for jitter free transfer. I am curious about what the ancient DX16 dac processor can do to the sound. Apparently DPA made it and only used it in their own products. The on-off switch is tempting.- 15 year old DAC, or almost brand new DAC for around 200 euro?
I'll just go on and on here with my monologue. Now I've just got a '95 DPA DX16 Rennaisance DAC. It's got a nice green led on it. Looks good.- What did you do today?
I've been having a headache the size of southern europe.- Post the last thing you bought!
I bought an ancient DPA Renaissance dac instead of a new pair of jeans. Maybe I'll regret it... It's supposed to be an entry level model, so even though I didn't pay that much, it still might have been better to get something new to wear.- Ultrasone Special Edition 10s. $2750 MSRP

I'll think about this can if they offer it in neon green.- Audeze LCD-2
