Utopia season 2. This series is the best I've seen since Twin Peaks.

A well-shaped pair of the latest ear pads did open up the sound a bit on my rev 1, giving more air. The most recent pads are softer than my old rev 1 pads, and have a different dust protector.

This thick cable has got all the strange looks, and is really very stiff, almost tipping my gear over. A bit of the (normal) lamp cable deep inside can be seen through the blue semi-transparent connector (Patrick does not apparently believe so much in effects of the actual conductor). It works, as the image shows.

Cavalli Audio Liquid Lightning
DefectiveAudioComponent replied to spritzer's topic in Headphone Amplification
It might be the same board, but it's no Liquid Lightning anymore. No melting cables, no risk of electric shock - that takes both the liquid and the lightning out of it. -
I just saw episode three of Utopia. Brilliant.

This r.2, r.1 etc talk is quite confusing since they made so many changes to the LCD-2 that it should be at least r.10 by now. The bass-vegan LCD-1 is a good alternative to the meaty LCD-2. Recycled headset and all, If I could have the LCD-2 bass with the rest of the LCD-1 sound, and the much more comfortable and less fragile and less expensive-looking headset, I'd take it.

That's the Wharfedale Isodynamic. I have changed the broken cable and the pads. I have also closed the bass-cancellation vents in the baffle. It's connected through the speaker taps on the Akai.

A quick swap to a new belt, and now it's running fine.

I have just bought one of those fancy-looking linear tracking vertical turntables, the LT-5V. A drawback of my unit is that currently I have to spin it by hand. I have a problem spinning it manually at 33rpm. It tends to end up too fast or too slow. Are there any courses or similar ways of learning to spin turntables at a perfect speed?

A silent moment for the Titanus MD1. The "most conftortable headphone" is no more on production.

Actually, I think the this small amp sounds all right. And it is cheap. It even looks as cheap as it is. And I needed a cheap amp. I can imagine that in the future we might find four of these stuffed into a really expensive fancy box that used unusual screws that could not easily be unscrewed, with a fancy name and number and silly sales text that wasn't quite written in english.... But, I could use yet another ok cheap amp. So, is there another design that is even cheaper and better?

It is possible to press the extra-sensitivity button and get som really entertaining distortion of the highs through an LCD2. Some other random orthodynamic might do it as well. It goes "click" through the headphone when I power it up. Perhaps I should take a look at the board.

I just got one of those O2 amps. I did not build much of it myself though. In hindsight I think I should have used a different led than the red one. I does not go so well together with the blue metal box.

A Narrowed Search of Headphones and Amp
DefectiveAudioComponent replied to TheWhiteLotus's topic in Headphones
This set is somewhat pretty, and has all the bling you need for the music genres you mention. It might fail to be bass heavy though. This is pretty too: -
There are some other parts missing of the Wikiphonia page for the LCD3, but the waterfall and frequency response graphs are there at least: http://wiki.faust3d.com/wiki/index.php?title=Audeze_LCD-3
