I had not. Will it play from my iTunes folder? I already have all my music on an external drive, but it's all on iTunes. EDIT: Ah, I see that you need a computer booted for the Squeezebox, and that does not fit my needs.

That Pure unit is cheap, but I'm not sure it's up to par with the other units. Maybe someone who's used it will chime in. At this point I'm leaning toward the Cambridge unit. I like that it's small, and I like the output options. Looks nice too. And it's nice to get first hand info about it.

It does have some interesting features. I particularly like the AES/EBU output.

Does anyone have any experience with any of the docks that bypass the iPod's internal DAC? I'm thinking about buying such a device to use with my home DAC, and would appreciate any relevant info. I'm aware of the Wadia and the Onkyo, any others of note? A decent used Wadia 170i goes for about $250, and that's appealing.

Dusty the newer version is available at Home Depot for about $150.00 IIRC, though it is a bit smaller than the version I linked.

This is a little bit outside of the box, as far as for home use maybe, but it's what I use everyday at the jobsite. It sounds petty decent, and it's held up to all weather for 4 years now. The iPod is very well protected too. http://www.ridgid.com/Tools/R8408-Jobsite-Radio/

Pads alone made huge changes in most Yamaha orthos when I was tweaking them. So just the pad change could be responsible for the difference.

I came away feeling the same from my trials at CJ10. Though not in leaps and bounds. That most likely has a lot to do with my preference for more neutral amps however. There are certainly some exceptions to the rule IMO, as Al's Pete Millet tube masterpiece sounds fantastic with every headphone thrown at it.
