  1. I think you are making this more complicated than it needs to be. HP1000 in the reference section because it is dead accurate, and the RS-1i and PS-1000 (or whatever upper end model you choose) in the audiophile section, because they are aimed at audiophiles.
  2. How about this Larry: To me at least, you mean well, but sometimes you stick your foot in your mouth. See all the crazy-assed posts above? They are funny as hell (unfortunately at your expense). This place will call out on shit. You said something viewed as offensive, and you got called out. You said you were sorry. Don't make it a crucifixion of Christ thing. People here loathe the victim mentality, so please stay away from that. Have a laugh at the above posts, learn from your mistakes, and move on. Oh, and for God's sake - Remove the "LOOK HERE" from your for sale ad. Holy shit, that is sooooo ebay and craigslist!
  3. It is so nice to see someone like Anton finally getting his dues (at least compared to where he was a year or two ago) for years of work and great music. Poor guy. His Private Release album never really panned out. I ended up letting him keep the money from my pre-order as a thank you. Far too often great artists live like paupers because they are pushed aside for some mainstream piece of shit. And really, I cannot blame the music industry anymore - it's all out there for any moron with an internet connection to hear. People are just too fucking lazy to go out and find great music.
  4. What in the almighty hell was that? Oh, and I think the violinist is just wide open for a new custom title
  5. Oh boy, Larry. You stepped in it now. The touchy subject about equating black people and hair products is a pretty old one. Here is a bit of advice: if Dave Chappelle made a sketch about in in his show years ago, you probably should proceed with caution
  6. I have an online friend whom I have vinyl ripped for me if I think the vinyl of an album I like would be better than the digital or CD release. He did Pirut recently, and it sounded pretty much identical to the digital release. I guess that is a testament to the quality of the more recent Kauan album mastering quality: fantastic. Or to put another way, I am fairly certain that Kauan's LPs are not better than the digital releases, since the more recent ones are already outstanding. For the sake of collecting; however, that's some sexy vinyl. Damn good album.
  7. That's the thing, your descriptor for reference/monitoring is flatter frequency response for critical listening, and then you acknowledge them as not being flat. I understand that John Grado's HP1000's are very accurate for monitoring (one of the best), but none of John Grado's creations are really all that accurate for monitoring. I pretty much only have Grado headphones, so there is no negative bias. They are fun, that's why I like them. But let's not classify them what they aren't. How about this: Put the HP1000 under the reference/monitoring section, and put something like the RS-1i or PS-1000 in the audiophile section. No sense in putting one of their bottom rung phones on a list with ones that are in the thousands. You might have to tweak the comfort remarks though
  8. No, I judge them by the last three albums, and I see no evidence of them wanting to make interesting music anymore. Orchid to Damnation was sublime, Ghost Reveries and Watershed had a couple of good songs, and Heritage was pure shit. Mikael even publicly trashed the same genre that got him famous, and he does not have the chops to make great prog rock. He never will be a Mariusz Duda type.
  9. <----- Bangs head against wall. http://metalhammer.teamrock.com/news/2014-06-02/exclusive-hear-the-first-track-from-the-new-opeth-album Two words: Bor-Ring Bring on Anathema...
  10. Pretty much, Santa. Totally different markets that will NEVER cannibalize each other, because each is looking for something different. Leonardo, think about Lexus and Toyota. They are the same company (Toyota), and they are both making plenty of money.
  11. I wish most of the bands I like had the money to have more shows here. When I see the tour stop list of European shows, the average fan could make a few of the stops no problem. Lots of places in America, there is considerable distance between each top. Having said that, at least I am not an Aussie or Kiwi. Those poor people get passed over all the time.
  12. Money in the wallet is money in the wallet. Most people in the audio business care not how it gets there.
  13. Our opinion (and advice) is you go the fuck away. Getting anal over gaming headphones is for twats. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hn6CqU7_FTY
  14. Happy Birthday!
  15. First with the obligatory JH13. And really, just about any pair of decent headphones will be fine for gaming. To hem and haw about it suggests to me that you need a love mate.
  16. Computer nerds talking about keyboards = DOTU finding out = Their rection = Myself, I have this with Cherry Blacks: http://www.deckkeyboards.com/product/deck-legend Fucking love it. Sorry, Al.
  17. Glad you gave it a second chance. I fell in love with many albums that way. I missed the concert at the HOB on the 2nd. I am kicking myself, but it would not have worked out.
  18. Album art for Opeth's upcoming album Pale Communion: Hope it does not suck...
  19. You caught me mid-edit, Dan.
  20. Yeah, that one slipped my mind. I was thinking of ones still in production. Also, the graphic mentioned singled out the SR80i, so nah nah nah
  21. Grado for monitoring? Funny stuff, right there. Fun as hell? Of course. Accurate? Not even close.
  22. Happy Birthday!
