  1. If you end up getting a latex after your test, be sure to tell how you like it so I can use it to try to persuade the boss when I cannot stand the cheapie spring one we have now. And yeah, any well built slat platform will be perfect for latex.
  2. If you count foobar utilizing flac.exe to convert .WAVs to .FLAC then yes. Pretty much all audio programs are just the GUIs that use the same flac.exe. I vastly prefer foobar to anything else for the sheer flexibility of it.
  3. Oh good. I was afraid you would not see this in time. Happy building
  4. Salty, there are eight 970s on newegg right now! If you can, jump on one! MSI gaming and Gigabyte Gaming are the best ones. By the way, if you don't get one in time, I live 5 miles from their will call warehouse. If I see a good one, would you like me to just pick one up, and you pay for shipping? Let me know if that sounds like something you'd like.
  5. That PSU is fine if you don't care about modular cables (though the hardwired cables on that particular unit are flat and way better than sleeved rounded ones). Seasonic is consistently good.
  6. I'd stay away from EVGA's ACX cooler (and their 970's in general). Poor cooling, fan noise, and sub par voltage components/layout compared to competition. Based on what I have read, you want Gigabyte, ASUS, and MSI this time. EVGA is not what it used to be, unfortunately. 7. Good combo. That ASRock is chock full of Nichicon 12k caps - very cool. And damn, newegg and Amazon are flat out of 970s right now. If you can hold on and get one soon, it will be worth it. If you absolutely cannot, get a good deal on a 780, but the 970 is just the better long term deal. Sorry for sounding like a 970 monger.
  8. Yeah, it is an expense, but let's put it this way: waiting an few seconds to a minute or two more for rendering is a lot less noticeable over the long haul compared to shitty frame rates on games if you reallocate more towards the GPU rather than CPU. The second you mention gaming in a computer setup, you automatically just added 200-500 bucks to your bottom line. You will stick with that 970 for a long time unless you ever jump into 4k gaming. It's worth it to get one when they go back in stock. Simone's future husband is pretty much on the money with the parts list: i5 or so, 16GB RAM (value name brand stuff, and do 2 sticks of 8GB for upgrades sake), middle end ASUS or MSI mobo, name brand PSU (500-600 watts). Case is up to you. Antec or Fractal make pretty good, decently priced ones.
  9. I'll try to get you specific ideas later tonight, but if you are interested in gaming, the NVIDIA GTX 970 is THE card to get right now. For the performance it brings, it's price is a no-brainer. I just got an ASUS Strix version.
  10. Yes, let's have a radical Christian ask another radical Christian his thoughts on radical Muslims... what could go wrong?
  11. Yeah, they are big. I never got into the cylinder look. I have the room for a ported box, but I could not justify the cost, especially since my PB12 still rocks like a champ all these years later. That gloss black though. Drool. I remember lusting after a Velodyne HGS18 in piano gloss black when it was king.
  12. I have heard the outlaw is pretty nice for the money, but SVS has pretty much everyone beat in a cost/performance comparison. If I had the money (and I did not want to spend a fortune on a sub), I'd get the 13 Ultra (PB in my case) and never look back. End of game, sit back and enjoy the boom boom kind of sub.
  13. Indeed. Yosemite valley has gotten more than it's share of close calls lately.
  14. I'd love a pair of LCD's (but MAD Super + Grado is great together... and I'd have to get a different amp to go LCD route), and for the money of a high end stat setup, I'd rather put it into my speaker setup.
  15. Shit, where are our manners? To OP: A good music box is made when the TV Bottle takes the song from the music player and makes it bigger. With this bigger song a group of TV bottles can make a small song very strong. This strong song can be given to your music making boxes which will fill the room with good sound. If you do not use the TV bottles right or you use any three legged pieces of shit your sound may not be good. How we will all laugh at your problems then. If you do good and make a good music box people will pay you for this. If you do bad and make bad things people will pay you more. Some people will pay lots of money for the song moving sticks even though it is the same as any other. Some people think that something (I don't know what) makes some song moving sticks very good even though they don't know either. For metal... Grado or get the fuck out...
