  1. You guys know pretty much as much as I do. I am shocked and in disbelief too. I?ve my suspicions, but really don?t know what to make of it. There might be other issues at play here that really have little to do with the content of two (one being deleted) of my last few posts on Head-Fi that triggered this reaction. The ban will be lifted in a month. And I?ve contacted Jude and he has been gracious and responsive. I?ll probably go more into some specific details a bit later.
  2. Germany may charge Rumsfeld over prison abuse http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1557842,00.html Al Qaeda making threats and gloat? http://today.reuters.com/news/articlenews.aspx?type=topNews&storyid=2006-11-10T172059Z_01_IBO132069_RTRUKOC_0_US-IRAQ.xml&src=rss&rpc=22
  3. Obviously the country is ready for change. Bipartisan control is a positive. IMO, people probably consider impeachment as another way to jab the President, but it most likely won?t fly and in the big picture would be counterproductive for the country.
  4. The Unknown As we know, There are known knowns. There are things we know we know. We also know There are known unknowns. That is to say We know there are some things We do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns, The ones we don?t know We don?t know. ?Feb. 12, 2002, Department of Defense news briefing (Donald Rumsfield)
  5. Given the short time, it was extremely minor discoloration. Doubtful, I would have been able to take even a somewhat decent picture. And but for my wife bringing it to my attention I probably wouldn?t have noticed it. KenW, do you have pics?
  6. In less than 12 days, the Raptor I purchased (and then returned) caused a slight square discoloration in my wooden furniture. Mind you it was pretty minor, but matched the power supply?s near exact dimensions. The feet left no residue, yet I know what you?re talking about. When I tested the Raptor?s external power supply temperature it read 120 degrees. I can only imagine how hot it must have been internally and my home is always kept cool when I am home. If I owned the Raptor longer it would have ruined the furniture or at minimum branded a Raptor power supply square in it forever.
  7. There are two versions of the R10s as far as my understanding, based on Edwood?s comments to me. I?ve heard the R10 serial number 444, which is the early less bass version. Later on in the production Sony for whatever reason increased the R10?s bass and as I am told other sound spectrums slightly suffered. Do you know the serial number and what R10 version you heard? Based on the past few days with the L3000s and my time with Edwood's R10s, I think the R10s have slightly bigger soundstage and slightly better imagining and placement. Yet the R10s that I heard were really bass shy even with my amp that added a little more. I think the R10s would be better for big band or large orchestral classical music. The L3000s are more upfront, dynamic, and the bass is the best I've ever heard in a headphone in terms of quality and quantity. I think for rock, pop, jazz, and small band and classic stuff the L3000s are better and definitely more fun. The R10s are a bit dry in comparison and laid back.
  8. Keep turning it around. You?ve taken the RS authority seat. Not I, nor has anyone else. This thread isn?t now about pages of nasty rumors. It?s pages of your slippery and tongue-in-cheek language. If you read my initial response to you, I didn't have a problem with your reply.
  9. You put your neck out to address this rumor as if you knew, but it appears you really don't... Keep bobbing and weaving? That's why everyone is so pissy.
  10. No one in this thread mentioned a house burying down. So you?ve heard this rumor too. I intentionally left that part out. I only indicated a house fire and that and to a lesser degree has been repeat except for your statement above. Interesting? I don?t know if this is intentional, a slip of the tongue, a misstatement, or what one could perceive as more double-talking jive.
  11. You really can?t see how one could read your ?it?s not true? statement as unclear. Just read 5687?s post. Keep slinging the insults ... Your comment that I responded to had nothing to do with you questioning my sincerity did it, but for your clarification I was sincere. You can spin it anyway you like, but I don?t play that game either.
  12. I wasn?t the first to mention house fire and RS Audio. I just responded to Yikes. And I did think about that before posting it because I called it a nasty rumor and a possible urban legend. Don?t play it off like that. As an ambiguous answer as that might have been I think we all knew to a certain degree what he was getting at...
  13. I don't mind, but the thread titled isn't very original
  14. That's what happened. Something seemed out of place. I knew I made a particular post in this thread and then it disappeared. But it?s only been diverted to a new thread. Interesting? http://www.head-case.org/index.php?topic=945.msg21095;topicseen#msg21095
  15. I thought this rumor hogwash when I heard it. If a Head-Fier?s Raptor caused a fire the tale would spread like wildfire. I also think the Head-Fier would feel obligated to warn others about the potential risk to life and property. One way or another you would think this info would get out. If it happened to someone not associated with Head-Fi, Ray wouldn?t tell anyone, but his closest confidants. Ray is no fool. He wouldn?t risk opening his mouth about this to anyone associated with Head-Fi because the story might be leaked to the Head-Fi masses and that would seriously hurt his business. I don?t think Tyrion deserves such a lashing for replying in the matter he did to this unsubstantiated ridiculous rumor. No one is omniscient.
  16. Well, that's certainly good to hear that no Raptor has started a fire. It seemed like a bit of BS.
  17. I am not going to say where I heard this nasty rumor, but the alleged story goes that the Raptor started a house fire and now Ray is being sued for it. I've no clue whether this is true or not. Possibly, it's just one of those untrue urban legends. Myth Busters where are you...
  18. great score on the HD-25, but your G08 isn't chicken feed nor are your cans. I think that's where one's money is better put to use too.
  19. Interesting?. I wonder why as usually everyone is hesitant to comment? Anyway, it?s amazing such vastly different impressions can be taken away from the Cal meets and this one NY meet. The apparent differences between the two are the source and cables. And system synergy does play an important part. When I compared my amp against the Dynamite the differences were noticeable, but IMO not substantial. And reaching firm conclusions at a meet or even within a few hours is hasty at best. On a side note, such comments pretty much mirror what Mikhail said too. But can't say I completely agree to the extend this is being described.
  20. So true?. I?ve heard all but the 010 (but heard the R10)?. IMO, the HE90 was my favorite followed by the R10 (less bass version) and then the K-1000s. Without question, my cash would be in the HE90s. The Orpheus is the bomb.
  21. ditto everyone's comments here... what did you name the puppy?
  22. digipete has the K701s and did a very nice job recabling them balanced with Mogami. He might have done a comparison or two between other balanced cables as well. Send him a PM I am sure he'll share his opinion/experience with you. And it might help with your decision.
  23. Hell thinking about it?. For $5000 One could buy a ZD ($1900), a Dynamite ($1700) and still have about $1400 for whatever else....
  24. I used the same source when doing my comparison, either the Meridian 508.24, Moth DAC or my Apollo. I primarily used the 508.24. And also used the same cables. I did my serious listening when I spent the night at the So Cal meet guarding the equipment with my ears. Didn?t get much sleep either. I also listened with the L3000s, HD650s, and the K-701s (single ended). Didn't try any Sony cans.
  25. I compared the B52 balanced against the single ended ZD and thought the ZD sounded better driving the HD600s and PS-1s/RS-1s. In fact, I preferred the ZD because it really drew me in and I wanted to enjoy the music and just sit back and listen to an entire CD. The ZD does double duty as a line amp too. Didn't do any direct comparisons, but the Dynamight is another great amp. And both these amps are half or more than half of the B52's price tag.
