  1. Plans change- The Zana is probably going forward. Actually, most likely without question, but due to some stuff that it isn't my place to publicly proclaim on Head-Case Craig decided against going to the Home Entertainment Show in Los Angeles (stereophile).
  2. I think Craig found a way around having to use a battery with the EC-Hy ... and $800 is the ballpark figure Craig is putting out at this time...
  3. The upgrade option is a hauntingly good idea....
  4. ok communication break down ... Note to self: when n_maher uses the Afro it means completely cool regardless of how one interprets what he wrote. O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 (I hope, I've made myself perfectly clear )
  5. Who the fuck cares? Well, I could think of at least one person...
  6. I completely missed/didn?t realize the different tube selection going on with this amp. :'( Does the higher voltage result in a shorter tube lifespan because it is being driven harder and hotter? I remember the stock MPX3 ran so cold except for the tubes. It was surprising to me at the time being the second amp I'd ever listened to especially in comparison to my time with the Raptor.
  7. I like the look of the black Singlepower chassis. It does look like a stock MPX3. I think the finish and streamline look is really tight. But based on pics and then how it actually felt when I picked it up it was somewhat deceptive to me because I was expecting it to weigh a lot more. All the weight is in the power supply and the rest of the chassis feels so light. That tube in front looks like a Sylvania 6SN7 metal base tall bottle from WWII. If it is I got one of those in my EC2A3. Great tube. When I had the MPX3, I thought the right NOS tubes made all the difference in the world. I really didn?t like the stock electro harmonix tubes at all. I thought it extremely limited the amps full potential to such a degree that it wasn?t even worth using them. Congrats! That's a really nice set-up.
  8. Are you going to give us some visual stimulation? Or does it look like a regular MPX3, except the different tubes? What does SE mean? Special edition?
  9. This is the wild west (this is a thread hijacked) sorry if you (or your thin skin) took unkindly to our improvisation.
  10. My wife and I go to a local restaurant that Coleman frequents. I so desperately want to say to him "what you talking about Willis," but I don't think with his temperament he would respond too well. So I give the former kid star a break.
  11. smart Vinyl is time consuming, especially if you wish to properly clean your vinyl, but ultimately the end results are very rewarding and pleasing nonetheless.
  12. Nice find. Original Zepplin too. Wow, enjoy your Thorens. It looks so mint even the cover looks unscathed.
  13. I've been interested in hearing Justin's AE-1 before I got the Hornet. Now that Justin has been making improvements I am even more interested in listening to it and comparing it against my Hornet. Still size and sound are two important factors to me in my portable rig. I think the Hornet makes my E4s and Rio Karma combo sound slightly better and more enjoyable, yet scarifies some detail. Grover Huffman made me an awesome custom mini-cable (and I did compare it against another highly regarded mini-cable) and it does help with improving the detail and separation. I would replace the Hornet, if I could find something better in my system and to my ears that was around the same size and price.
  14. Billy I thought for some reason you sold your GS-X? Justin I look forward to hearing these new modules at the So. Cal Meet in August.
  15. I've read a review about the CEC TL51X, I believe. I think they recently released an updated model called the TL51XR, but I am not sure. I know that some site on the net is selling them around a grand, but it is the 220V version. I checked the 110V and I believe it is nearly $640 more. I have read very good things about this particular/similar player. I am interested to hear your impressions.
  16. I've posted this in the "So is Head-Fi The Matrix and Headcase the real world?" but thought some might not be able to read it. Anyway, here it is. Head-Case isn't like the other Head-Fi competitor sites because it?s a direct offshoot of Head-Fi. Most if not all of the familiar personas are popping up and probably will continue to do so on a daily basis. Head-Fi thrives in large part due to active posters. And as I perceptive it the major issues usually addressed here (or at least the one?s I?ve found interesting) so far are those that pertain to concerns (some more legitimate than others) that some at Head-Fi have been sweeping under the rug for too long. I can only imagine and hope that a bit of retrospection and reassessment is taking place at camp Head-Fi. I think it isn?t in anyone?s interest to go to war. I think people that come here (at this point) are looking for something different then when those same people go to Head-Fi, but for mods to alienate or threaten us for speaking our minds only services to put fuel to the ranting fires. (I believe I got a taste of retribution) Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Mods are not Gods, but sometimes they like to pretend. I hope this site provides some thought provoking insight that certain things could be improved at Head-Fi. I suppose if the path taken thus far has resulted in the need for a site like this to be created so that certain eyes are opened to continue business as usually probably isn?t the best course of action.
  17. Everyone is welcome here to join just because you are the owner of another forum doesn't mean you can't or you should be prevented from posting. In regards, to the pm issue: You have no expectation of privacy in a forum setting, even in private messages. The ?private? designation in ?private messages? does not mean that you have a privacy interest in those messages. They are called ?private? only by virtue of the fact that they are sent personally to you, and not for the whole world to see. A public internet forum is not a democracy, and neither is it a government. The owner and/or moderator can check private messages at any time and in any way they want. You do not own your PM mailbox, which is analogous to a school locker that is school property. I just researched this last night.
  18. How or better yet who is going to enforce it? Without enforcement very little can be done unless someone is willing to start some sort of civil action or the government decides to make an example of someone and you would have to prove what happened? Privacy invasion with the high legal costs is pretty pointless to prove in a court of law unless your damages are huge or the government is making a point. I do agree with you though.
  19. Jude, I'll certainly respect your request not to use the Head-Fi pm system to solicit my friend about this site. So does this mean that private messages on Head-Fi aren't really private or is this just a code of honor thing that you imposing?
  20. Wow, look who came out of the woodwork. Yeah, in light of the actual email correspondences it does seem a bit colored. But why did you feel the need to use a different email address and username instead of initially just being upfront? And since I've your attention are we forbidden from using Head-Fi's pm system to inform/invite our Head-Fi friends to Head-Case?
  21. I am glad you found a place to vent. At times, I believe I can relate to some of your frustration at the Head-Fi regime and bureaucracy. At least as of yet, I haven?t hit heads with any of the big wigs at Head-Fi. I don?t like when I sense special treatment for certain individuals and/or merchants because this can result in a major disservice to the headphone community by attempting to influence perception especially when it seems unjustified. Another gripe is that the site bogs way too much and I don?t know whether this is truly the result of financial constrains. I suppose I may hold my tongue more often then I would like, but I believe there is a way to effectively make a point without alienating people, burning bridges, and using profanity. It is liberating to be here, but at the same time I realize that this is a public forum and my thoughts and opinions will be available for all to see for a very long time. I know that when I am angry I don?t think as well, make the best decisions, or express myself in the most effective manner possible. I usually do much better when I have had an opportunity to reflect and wait until I have a calm and cool head. In my experience you learn a lot about a person?s character during trying times. Honest is usually the best policy, but seemingly his morbid curiosity and awkward feelings over the creation of this new site and his desire to know-all got the better of him. I suppose having ultimate control and then losing some isn?t such an easy thing to accept, especially, if someone feels it?s a personal attack against their interests. I suppose we have all done thing we regret or wish we could change. I am for one not blameless in my walk. I hope people learn from their mistakes and take heed to constructive criticism, if not you don?t grow. I don?t smoke.
  22. On occasion, it can feel like walking on a tight rope of sorts. Sometimes I wonder why the rope seems to widen for certain products and individuals.
  23. That was very polite. If one wants to invite other Head-Fiers, what is the best way to go about doing it?
  24. how ironic. i wonder why he decided to get one. i suppose he wanted to secure his persona and especially in the event he had something of importance to communicate.
