Larry, Before you get defensive, please understand that most of us are very fortunate to even be in a place where we can afford such luxuries. It is clear you complain yet brag about money enough that it genuinely offends people. We have people starving in this world and unemployment is insanely high, and many of us just don't care about your money issues or having to read about you saving every little penny for a headphone, when there are people out there who have to save every little penny just to feed their kids. That is partially also why Steve made that comment that you don't get it, because you don't, and there is a bigger world and picture and set of priorities outside of your gear lusts and acquisitions. And for Nate, who is 100% class, to get to his boiling point, really says a lot about your insensitivity regarding money and how it makes others feel.
  2. Birthday boy!
  3. Hmmm...sounds just as good with the senns or other high impedance if not better.
  4. Would love to have another listen. Last time I remember them having a brighter tonal balance but I though they were speedy and imaged well.
  5. Completely OT but looking at purrins plots the hd800 sure looks pretty freaking good.
  6. Listen to one first. It's a nice sounding headphone. I had johns rev 1 for awhile and it was very nice, at times a bit lush but still detailed. Imagine a faster more detailed and overall tighter hd650. Rev 2's are popping up cheap used too.
  7. I like Rob as a person and he has always been really nice to me. He brings his kids to all the meets and they are very well behaved and respectful which also speaks of robs character. Whenever I've talked gear with rob in person he has always done it intelligently and when disagreed with never has gotten defensive. While I disagree with some of his aural conclusions I know and trust that their is nothing malicious or conspiratory about his motivations and I do believe he provides a benefit of some sort to the head fi community. His reviews have gotten better, more concise, and he has shown a certain degree of objectivity. That's all you can really ask for from a random Internet review IMO.
  8. Things are always Overpriced especially with the Vintage stuff. However I love them and swear by them, currently owing my 5th set.
  9. Isn't Pete's daytime work actually involve opamp design and construction?
  10. That's called a Sony R-10
  11. Head case happened.
  12. Sounds like ludafisk, which is popular in Minnesota. I am sure there is some Norwegian connection there.
  13. To add to Wayne's post, I think time will tell regarding the lcd3 and it's "standing" with other cans. I give the lcd2 props because it remains a solid choice amongst others in its price range, and it's been a solid choice for quite some time now. For $2000 you can start thinking stax or vintage dynamic, most of which have also stood the test of time as solid high end options.
  14. I would rather think about some of the more vintage dynamics, especially if they start to drop in price due to the lcd3 (unlikely)
  15. It's called a free market. Show your displeasure and skepticism by not buying it.
  16. I spot lowthers. Please tell Jon Ryan Clarin says hi.
  17. Postjack = anti Nate Good to hear your positive vibes for the 4s
  18. Ah, no I did not. Thanks.
  19. Has anyone had a chance to try out the iTunes wifi sync? I plugged the phone into power, computer is on, both connected to same wifi network, but the sync button remains greyed out...
  20. Yup that is how I read it as well, and it even states that the three amps drive the passive crossovers in the earpieces. The amps are adjusted through eq. Basically it is not at all what was advertised at can jam and is a completely different concept as far as I am concerned.
  21. So are the crossovers in the earpieces, or in the adaptor? Also, I could have swore that the whole sonic draw to the amp was that it would be using active crossovers.
  22. I am a airport express user/convert and love the convenience of it. My iTunes library is my primary source of files, and with iPad/iPhone it makes playing music fast and easy. SQ to me seems perfectly fine.
  23. Sounds like the srx mk3 is a nice stat option for a gradohead. Though I do find the hp1000 share a similar organic tonality with the sr007 without sounding as "muted" as others have called it, and the hp1000 is definitely more forward.
  24. I concur. It is debatable if a 16 year old even needs something like an iphone. Plenty of free options.
  25. Is there a windows program equivalent out there?
