Can't go wrong with the pinnacle. That is a true bonafide TOTL reference amp.
I think I was able to talk Tyll into checking out Doug's DSHA-1, which I can attest that it does a really nice job driving the Audeze LCD2 at least. Tkam has mentioned the L-2 is even better.
Correct, they just screw and unscrew on. Would your phase plugs even fit mine being 8" vs 5"? Also i am sure if you call Jon he would be glad to send you a set or exchange.
I have the older style associated with the dx45 and 55. I never had the chance to hear the new style associated with my 65's - Jon simply replaced them with the old one when he installed them in my cabs as he found a distortion with the new ones where they whistle and he doesn't bother with them.
Sorry for the long bump...my touch detects and SD card just fine but when I plug in my portable USB drive it doesn't sense/detect it whatsoever. It's a basic WD 250 gb portable thing, I believe formatted in FAT32
Wow these m80's are awesome. The tonal balance is excellent Killer packaging, headphones are built really well, pads are comfy, and they are much smaller than I would have imagined. Some odd reason they remind me of the jh16 balance...or even a vintage rs1 regarding tonal balance.
Sounds like you want some kind of value-metric to assign a number to the relative value of a can - sounds very Headfi-ish. Don't think that is tyll's style. Kind of sabermetric-like as well.
VORP = value over relative player/position
VORC = value over relative can
Yah. No need for the conspiracy theories, but in our post singlepower world people are just trying to ensure that others don't get burned. I truly believe there is no evil agenda on birgir's part and that he genuinely is trying to be informative and educational on not only the design, but some of the business practices associated with cavalli. I am sure whatever issues exist are being communicated and hopefully resolved between Headfi moderation and cavallis associates.
I haven't heard the cavalli stuff but I cannot agree with the gs1 being an overly bright amp or analytical. To this day still one of the best solid states I've listened too, a close second to my dsha1 for sure.
What a great read. Gotta hear me those v-moda m80's, I have always wanted a portable sealed can. Considering my first headphones ever, the Bose triport (yes I know) were that style, amazing to read how quality options have improved.
