So far for me the 650's have the most dramatic improvement but really I think every headphone I've tried has improved to some degree when balanced. If I can make it to the maryland meet in a few weeks hopefully I'll get to hear Hirsch's balanced rs-1's.

I think that is the most promising part of the X-1, gives an almost endless amount of ways to tweak the sound. Should be fun to try one with L3000 drivers

The 650s are quite a bit better balanced than the 600s are.

Will be interesting to see how it compares to your E5

Just an FYI the available themes and number of themes will change as things progress. Especially when a new version of the forum software is released, everyone might be stuck with the default theme for a few days after that . I will always start a thread in the general announcements forum when a forum software upgrade is scheduled.

Actually that sticky doesn't affect if the registration page works or not. The registration page along with a few other issues were broken, they have all been fixed as of yesterday though.

My power here is pretty bad, it's not particularly dirty but during the summer the voltages will often drop below 100. I figure something like this could be quite useful for brownouts and the like.

You do have to be registered don't worry about that at all. I'm not 100% sure why it shows that sometimes but a guest cannot view anything. Feel free to log out and try it yourself if you wish.

Hirsch, would you say the RS-1's improvement is as drastic as the 650s when balanced? Or even moreso? And yes tell us about those balanced r-10

The EE MiniMax from all accounts has the traditional "tubey" sound, so make sure that is what you want.

Does anyone have experience with balanced RS-1's? What improvements have you heard vs single-ended rs-1's?
