  1. Yup, rich full sound is my memory of that DAC. Reminded me of the Electrocompaniet then and still does.

I actually liked the headphones when I tried them, but only listened for about 30 seconds.
  3. So 2.0 or 2.1 (5.1 isn't an option)? How would the Quad 12L Actives do for this?
  4. Is anyone familiar with this "hacker collective"? [url=http://www.nycresistor.com/]NYC Resistor

    I'm asking about the speakers.
  6. Yeah, I have the stands made for them, so I'll give those another go, though I don't love them.

    Has anyone heard the B&Ws?
  8. I received the 9Ls today. Lanemart is a good vendor. Color is black, but it has sort of a pearly sparkle to it, which i suppose is meant to be "fun," but i dont like such types of fun. Fit n finish is very similar to the 12L but considerably smaller. That said, they are still big, much bigger than the Audioengine A2. I guess around the same size as the A5. I wish they were smaller. I ran them out of the PWD and holy mid-bass hump batman. They sounded very good when dialed in, but I need to play with them a bit and get the positioning right because they can get a little thumpy in the midbass, which I suppose isn't surprising given that they supposedly are voiced for desktop use, which always seems to mean midbass hump. I think removing the grills might help. They're ugly anyway.
  9. $375 shipped, which I think is decent. They do have scuffs on the bottoms (which was disclosed) but otherwise perfect. Seller was lanemart on ebay. Good vendor familiar to many of us.
  10. I never pulled the trigger on the soundbar, but I'm back in the market. Anyone have any further experience to report?
  11. Is the amp powerful enough? Tapatalk.
  12. I just impulsively bought 10 bags of crack.
  13. I just impulsively bought a pair of 9Ls from lanemart via ebay. Slightly scratched on the bottoms so the price looked pretty appealing. Will post impressions.
  14. JH16 works great on the subway.
  15. Nice, Marc! Love that color combo. It sure is easy to load up on the accessories, isn't it? Packing cubes? Please let me know how you like it. Me last night: Quad 9L actives.
  16. How is the BDP-93? (Aside from being 2 less...)
  17. I know you've probably already done this, but have you unplugged the DAC for a few minutes and then replugged and powered up? On my Dodson, the chipses occasionally needed a reboot. EDIT: Also, is this happening regardless of the type of digital input?
  18. IP address conflict?
  19. These dumb dog stories are making me laff. My parents have a golden who is as dumb as the day is long. I'm pretty sure she's retarded. And neurotic. Pees at the sight of newcomers and jumps on everything. Charming pooch. It sucks because their previous golden was a genius. This one, not so much.
  20. I'm liking the Tumi Alpha Bravo stuff.
  21. Sorry to hear about the pain Jacob. I had major abdominal surgery 5 years ago and the pain was profound. The docs also dispensed pain meds only with much begging. The approach to pain management here is still in the dark ages. Granted it is dangerously easy to get hooked on the meds, but I believe there is a lit of data that suggests effective pain management can improve recovery time. In my case, I found that it was very very important to stay ahead of the pain. If I waited too long to take the meds, it was exponentially harder to tame the pain. Like Vicki said, make sure you get plenty of rest. Also stay hydrated. I hope today is better.

Awesome play. That's a vicious block on #85. Need to keep that head on a swivel, son.
  23. Crappy, is the university a public or private institution?
  24. Dammit, Jim! Now I want a MacBook Air! Congrat.
