  1. Ok, gang. The short short list appears to be thus: Thunderpants D7000 Shure I consider the CD3000 one of those phones I'll just buy if I have the opportunity so they don't really count here. EDIT: And, Colin, I love the idea of you walking around an airport in those.
  2. Ah, so THOSE are the Thunderpantseses. Are those the ones you were wearing in the airport, Colin?
  3. Dusty! And guys, what the hell are the Thunderpantses?
  4. These suggestions are all very helpful, gang, thanks. I probably would still pounce on a CD3000, but I'm willing to wait for one in mint condition.
  5. That's a good way to end up in someone's basement.
  6. Good point. I hear they're better than the R10.
  7. Nate, there's a D7000 for sale over there. Just sent a PM.
  8. Posty, I've been considering the W5000, too. I remember that they almost made Nate vomit, but I'm still curious.
  9. Yeah, I'm interested in those. I'm interested in the T1, but it seems a bit pricey. The new portable "baby" T1 could be interesting. That would be awesome, Jim. PM incoming!
  10. I'm considering a pair of closed phones for when I want to listen to the BigRig while Mrs. Monkey also needs to get work done. We don't have a separate office/extra room, so sometimes my open cans bother her. The JH13s are great, of course, but I'm not always in the mood to jam them into my ears. So now I'm looking for a closed can. And I'd prefer not to spend $1000. I've tried the Denon 5000 and I think it sounds thoroughly mediocre, but not awful. It would be nice, though, to find a closed can that's better than "not awful." Maybe AT woodies? Your sage (or salty) advice is appreciated.
  11. I sold these boring phones. Now tempted to buy the 650 (again) or a pair of good closed phones (yeah, good luck with that).
  12. Fucking octopuseses
  13. Southland. Good show. Reminds me of The Wire--but it ain't The Wire. Still, a pretty good show.
  14. I like the 301, just trying to figure out how it would do with cables. I find that the extra hands are pretty necessary, but I can't stand most "helping hands."
  15. Chris, do you think the 324 would work for cables?
  16. Bumping this because I need a Panavise. My use will be primarily for cables, with circuit boards and other random stuff next. I won't be bolting it to anything. Suggestions appreciated.
  17. This is me next week. Narcotics now.
  18. grrrr...Fios here.
  19. I've found with Things, the best way to use it is to put in all the stuff you need to do on Day 1, keep up with it through Day 7, and then never use it again.
  20. I have to admit that I am once again tempted to get a MBP.
  21. I wonder if it would work with the PWD... EDIT: Sorry you don't like the TTVJ, Guillaume.
  22. This is kind of a big deal, no?
  23. Dan, I just saw that. What does it mean? Would that include USB DACses or is it input only? EDIT: Moar here: http://lists.apple.com/archives/coreaudio-api/2010/Apr/msg00124.html I still don't quite understand, but there's something in the link above about supporting 24/96 down the road. Not sure exactly what that means, though.
