  1. Well, my interest in this phone has been revived again, now that I've pretty much sold everything else. I am just curious, because IIRC, Boomana said that there could be possibly two different production runs of these phones, each sounding a little bit differently? Has anyone else heard and/or could verify this?
  2. That's my dream speakers...drool...
  3. Thanks Ryan: I visited the campus about a month ago, and I liked the overall feel of the neighborhood. I'll definitely try to go to a Chicago meet once I'm there.
  4. Radiohead - I Might Be Wrong: Live Recordings Worth the price for "True Love Waits" alone.
  5. I consider myself a Dylan fanatic, but this album, IMO, became too mawkish. I thought Modern Times had a similarly nostalgic tone, but it wasn't mawkish.
  6. Not really, kind of too sentimental for me.
  7. I'm going there this fall for U of C's MA program, and I'm just wondering if anyone here knows anything about the neighborhood, like where it's good to eat/drink, which areas to avoid. Really, any knowledge is appreciated.
  8. I've been feeling somewhat nostalgic for all the Infinity Engine games (BG series/Planescape/Icewind Dale series), and I was wondering if anyone has ran them successfully via BootCamp/XP? Any problems that I should be aware of?
  9. The receive would be a great option, but all the reviews I've seen of it are focused on its feature sets, rather than how the actual amplifier sounds like, its circuitry, etc, etc. If the amplifier in that thing is decent, it would make a decent all-in-one system.
  10. I think this is it: STR-DA5400ES | ES Series Home Theater A/V Receiver (7.1-channel) | Sony | SonyStyle USA At least according to the naming system.
  11. I happen to like music that can be broadly categorized as "shoegazing" and "noise-pop." So if anyone else is a fan of such genres, and who's also in the DC/MD/VA area, there is a local music fest full of bands who make music in those genres: MySpace.com - DNA in the DNA Radio WMUC Radio 88.1 FM - 101 - Male - COLLEGE PARK, Maryland - www.myspace.com/dnainthedna I've seen a couple of these bands live before, and while they are by no means mind-blowing, they are pretty decent, IMO.
  12. Tonight is going going through Pavement's back catalog, in chronological order 1) Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted 2) Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain 3) Pavement - Wowee Zowee 4) Pavement - Brighten the Corners
  13. Spiritualized - Lazer Guided Melodies
  14. This is indeed awesome. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz! Bought it from the band's website: aside from its being a really good album, I'm glad bands are beginning to sell their music this way more and more.
  15. Fuck Buttons - Street Horrrsing Saw them open for Mogwai last fall and really liked the music. I would say it's a noise album with very strong melodic foundations, and very hypnotic.

    Battlestar Galactica

I thought one important theme, among others, of the show is to question the difference between "Self" and "Others," so I think it's justified to devote a lot of time exploring this question and dramatize it.
  17. Well, I'm going to get some more Boris, but yes, after listening to The Black One, I know Sunn O))) and Boris are not the same. But somehow, I guess my sensibilities have changed in the three years since I last tried to listen to those two bands.
  18. Sunn O))) - Black One Outside of Scott Walker, Sunn O))) is the only other band that genuinely makes me afraid, which is a good thing.
  19. Boris - Pink I remember I couldn't get into this record back in 2005, no matter how hard I tried. But suddenly I just get it. Wow, I've been missing out. Maybe I should go back and re-listen to some Sunn O))) now.
  20. Built to Spill - Perfect From Now On
  21. Explosions in the Sky - The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place
  22. Fujiya & Miyagi - Lightbulbs School of Seven Bells - Alpinisms The first is a Neu!/Can innfluenced electronic project, while the latter is like dream pop stuff. Seeing them both on Wednesday.
