ATH-ESW9
It has been a very long time since I've been in the market for a semi-full sized, closed headphone. The last one I had was the AKG K81DJ. I liked that pair of cans well enough, except for the comfort: they pinched my ears like no other, and I can't wear them for more than half an hour without feeling discomfort. From what I've gathered, people here like the ATH-ESW9 for a semi-full sized closed headphone. The fact that they are supposed to sound decent straight out of an iPod also makes them appealing. However, I still have concerns about comfort. I have big ears that are long but not wide. So most headphones end up pinching my the top and bottom of my earlobes, and that's where the discomfort comes from. That is also the reason why I find full-sized Senn headphones to be the most comfortable because of their somewhat elongated oval shape. I know the ESW9 is not fully circumaural, and neither do they have the ideal shape. But I'm just wondering, from people who've had both the ESW9 and the K81DJ (since that's my only frame of reference), are their earpads similar in size? And how much do the ESW9 clamp? I have a medium sized head. My other concern is whether the ESW9 have that "AT" sound, by which I mean do they sound like the W5000s? I did not like the W5000s because they had what I thought is a disproportionate emphasis on the upper midrange, which consequently made them bass-lean IMO. Now I'm even more of a basshead, so if the ESW9 share that trait, I'd be worried. Finally, I see that HeadRoom sells the ESW9A, is that different from the regular ESW9?

Saw Cat Power last night at the 9:30 Club in DC. Damn, what a fucking incredible voice, and I've gained a much better appreciation for her band now than I had when I was just listening to the studio albums.

Lakers!
Vlad is owed about $18 over the next three years, whereas Morrison is owed only $8 million over the next two, one of which is a team option. And Shannon Brown has about $800k on one year. So from a money perspective, this works out much better for the Lakers. There's no real downside because Adam Morrison is a given a chance to prove himself: if he plays decently, Lakers are not on the books for that much; same with Shannon Brown. If both of them does not work out, the Lakers have almost $5 million worth of cap space at the end of the season, which can be used to pick up a decent veteran player.

Lakers!
This is purely a salary move, but to be fair, Adam Morrison did cut his hair this season. Nevertheless, the 'stache needs to go.

Of Montreal - Hissing Fauna Are You The Destroyer? I'm obsessed lately with "The Past is a Grotesque Animal" on this album: it is just so epic.

What did you do today?
Let's see: the girl I've been seeing for the past 6 months left to go back to California (on good terms) to be with her family, and someone stole my clothes, wallet, iPhone, and keys from my locker at the gym. Could've been worse I suppose.

What are some reputable online places to get scotch?
I don't have any access to local liquor stores that sell the kind of scotch that are often recommended here. So what are some reputable places online to get them?

New Year, new diet!
Is it? I don't know, I never felt any hunger pangs, but I probably over-estimated anyways.

What do I need in terms of vinyl accessories?
What kind of clamps do you guys recommend? One of my records is slightly warped, and something under 100 would be nice.

New Year, new diet!
You don't really need to start off on a radically different diet (as in, completely and totally changing what you eat and how much you eat) if you want to lose weight. Of course, eating healthier definitely make it easier, but it's pretty fucking hard to jump off right into the deep end of dieting. I went from 180 lb at Jan. of 08 to 145 lb now, and I lost that weight through a combo of going to the gym everyday and cutting back what I eat, but not dramatically so: I went from eating about 2000 calories a day to something like 1300 a day. Cutting back on alcohol consumption helped tremendously, but I would attribute the biggest role to just exercising. At the beginning, it was hard as hell because I basically had to force myself to do it. But once you really get into exercising, it really does become part of your daily routine. I'd feel weird today if I don't go exercise, and it's a great stress reliever as well. I could probably use to lose another 5 pounds, since I'm not a big guy (5'7'' asian), but I've never felt better.
