  1. Did you go to a retail store or online? I've found that it really helps with the fit if you can try them on in store. I love these, and they are good both for road running and gym stuff. There isn't really much of a mental adjustment if you just wear them indoors for gym stuff. However, if you do any type of outside running, then there is an initial mental disconnect. However, after one or two runs, and some soreness in your calves/heels, your body and mind will adjust. I ran a half marathon yesterday in my KSOs outside, and I felt fine.
  2. So far, I really like my KSOs. Still haven't run outside with them because it is too cold in Chicago. Even running indoors, I can feel myself slightly adjusting my gait, but fortunately I haven't felt soreness or aching in my feet/calves. The convenience factor is also very nice, since I can just throw them in my bag and barely take up any space. I definitely don't regret this purchase.
  3. I bought the KSO model on Monday and tried them in the gym today. No running, just lifted some weights and some moderate stationary cycle with them. So far, no discomfort or pain. In fact, I find that I got used to the sensation of wearing them really quickly. Tomorrow I'll wear them on my run and see how they feel then.
  4. Thanks, I'll go to their store in Chicago this weekend to check them out. Aside from the alleged biomechnical benefits, I think they'd be really convenient for me, since I can just carry them in my backpack, instead of having to take my Nikes with me to the gym and then change out of my winter boots.
  5. Thanks. Do you run indoors (i.e, on treadmills) or outdoors? I can't really run outside right now, because it's too cold in Chicago, so the only running I can do is on the treadmill. Also, do you lift weights with them?
  6. I'm interested in trying them out, but I most likely won't wear them as everyday footwear. If I do end up getting them, I'll probably just wear them when I'm in the gym. So my question is: am I cancelling the benefits of these if I don't wear them on a consistent basis?
  7. Wrote all day for finals. One year out of undergrad, and I forgot just how dreadful finals are.
  8. That, and they have no balls whatsoever. Cal buys into its hype too easily, and they cannot handle adversity at all. After being beat that badly last week, you would think that Cal would come out with a little fire and motivation. But as soon as Riley threw that interception on the first drive, I knew it was over.
  9. Ugh! Another completely uninspiring effort from Cal:mad: This is starting to look like a re-run of 2007.

As someone who grew up in southern California, this weather in Chicago is pretty cold to me. I thought I was somewhat acclimated to east coast weather when I worked last year in DC, but I guess not.

Stafford Men's Wool-Blend 3/4-Length Coat $20 + S/H - Slickdeals.net Pretty good deal, IMO. I bought one, since Chicago turned out to be way colder than I anticipated...
  12. I'd be very interested in your impressions of those. I do most of my running indoors in the gym, but I do run outside occasionally for extended distances (like once a week, 6 miles+), so I'd be interested to know how they feel to you when you exercise or run, indoors or outdoors.
  13. Jesus fucking Christ! Cal dropped a giant turd of a game against Oregon. But I guess I should not have expected anything less from a program that, year after year, buys into its own hype and then falls on its face.
  14. Went for a 5K run in the morning, then got home, did some reading for next week's seminars. And in about an hour, going to watch Cal beat Oregon (hopefully).
  15. Thanks again for the wishes guys. Ironically, my friend gave me a set of Bose computer speakers with the best of intentions, since I told him that my laptop speakers were shit.
  16. Thanks Al, the only thing I'll be getting this year is a dinner, as I blew my money on tuition
  17. Well, Cal finally broke out of their usual road slumps by getting the win over Minnesota. For a while in the 4th quarter, I thought, "here we go again" with the choking on the road, but they pulled out the win. And Jahvid Best is a speed freak: once he's outside, you can't catch him. Nobody believed me when I said that Huskies have a legitimate chance of upsetting USC, and they did. On the one hand, as a Bears fan, I'm glad somebody beat USC. But on the other hand, this loss does put more pressure on Cal to beat SC two weeks from now, and this win by the Huskies does nothing to lessen the media's prejudice against the Pac 10.
  18. Well, if it's the same team that showed up against Boise State, I'm not so sure...
  19. If any one Pac-10 team can beat USC this year, it might be Cal. And as an alum, I couldn't be more excited! Go Bears!
  20. I'm reading Hegel right now, and that's definitely even more obscure than Kant.
  21. Actually, the monads are Leibeneitz, to be nit-picky. Personally, I can't stand Pynchon, something about his prose just makes my mind wander and get lost.
  22. Thanks Carl, that was very helpful.
  23. This intrigues me: can you tell me how they perform un-amped, say, out of an iPod touch?
  24. The proper name is "zha jiang mian." Just have to use the correct Chinese label
  25. I recently sold my Stello DP200 to laxx, and upon taking delivery, he told me that there is a problem: the headphone jack does not work. He tells me that he feels no physical resistance when plugging the headphones in, and there is no volume. The Stello is supposed to mute the pre-amp outs when headphones are plugged in, but laxx tells me that even with phones plugged in, the pre-amps still work. My first thought is that in the shipping process, the headphone jack became dislodged from the chassis such that it no longer grips the headphone plug completely. Does this sound plausible?
