  1. Nice review! The PP-1 looks like it might wound better since it uses discrete topology, vs. the cheaper opamp topology of the Stealth. A Pass ONO or XONO would sound really good but a bit pricey. The Whest .20 or TWO might be very good too. The Pass Pearl DIY also sounds fantastic, but only 60db gain (might be too low for your cart).
  2. I lift the needle up with the arm lift, move the base, and then drop it again. Three or four iterations and you're spot on. I wouldn't move the base with the needle lowered.
  3. Yeah Duggeh, do what Reks said
  4. Thanks! Really diggin' the sound. My TT journey has come to an end... maybe
  5. You have to remove about 20 screws from underneath the TT to remove the rubber base and inner vibration damper. Then you unbolt the old tonearm (3 screws) and remove. Bolt in the new armboard (3 screws). Then mount the new tonearm. You do have to cut out part of the rubber base where the tonearm comes out to make clearance for the cable (really easy - a few minutes with a serrated steak knife )
  6. It works very well. I used it first, and then compared to the SME V Baerwald protractor I had downloaded, and for all intents and purposes they alignment was the same (at least with my poor eyes) SME protractor on top of Baerwald Just Baerwald
  7. The Vinyl Rig is now complete (mostly) with the addition of the SME 309 arm today
  8. Not interested in those... maybe a separate purchase item for those who indicate they are interested?
  9. Eden Atwood -- Waves: The Bossa Nova Session SACD
  10. If your cable ISP has updgraded the lines with fiber and whatnot, it can be very good! I get 6mbit/s download and 0.5 mbit/s upload, not too shabby from Time Warner.
  11. Roxy Music -- Avalon SACD
  12. Anyone have any experience with the Signal Cable Silver Resolution ICs and speaker cables?
  13. I got a great deal on my SME 309 tonearm at $1.45 vs. $1.90 GBP/USDollar !!
  14. What do they sound like compared the other tubes you mention above?
  15. That's my vote as well. I concur with Pars - (RN55 class or the 0.3", which would allow PRP 1/4W)
  16. Showing my ignorance: would the surface mount resistors be something that can be soldered by us, or come already machine soldered on the board?
  17. should be fun sticking them in
  18. 5 matched RCA 12AU7A Clear Tops for my Candela Preamp
  19. The PRPs we used on the Pearl sound good too! I guess whatever sounds good, is easy to source, works with the board layout, and is not outrageously priced is ok with me.
  20. I would favor RN60D footprint capability (mostly out of familiarity, but sonically also they are a known quantity).
  21. The khartago monos are basically smaller cases holding kismet black boards (newest hi-perf Odyssey offerings). They have a single 400va transformer and 120,000 uf worth of caps. 180w/channel, 120 amps current (is a conservative rating). Sounds great! The candela has a bit of tube rush noise which I can hear a little when everything is quiet (I am new to tubes, so not used to this), but I understand some different tubes are quieter. Sonically the candela is just perfect, gorgeous. Takes a bit of that digital dryness out, but still very resolving and natural sounding. The amps have just natural sounding, with plenty of grunt, really nice mids and highs (not glary or bright/harsh).
  22. cool, a thing of beauty!
  23. Take a look at post #7, I think this may be what you are looking for.
