Mine are, unfortunately, 6" even. I don't wear anything bigger than 38mm.

The only issue I have with the Pentax is that the focus isn't internal, it gets around 70% longer when focused 1:1 vs. infinity. Other than that it's been great. Something you might want to look for is a dedicated macro ring flash. Pentax sells one in the form of the AF160FC, but it is very expensive. Not sure what the other brands have to offer on that front, but it's something to keep in mind.

What kind of macro photography are you planning on doing? I really enjoy my Pentax SMC 100mm WR f/2.8 Macro.

I keep hearing mixed specs on these 5s - 36 vs 37 vs 38mm. But the bezel is fairly unobtrusive, so it should be okay in any of those sizes. Too bad I waited so long. They were once available cheaper than that on Amazon.

I own a few limited Pentax lenses, as well as the D FA 100mm WR Macro, which is a limited in all but name, and I can attest to the fact that their primes are absolutely stunning. Never tried any of their better zooms, so I can't attest to that. Old Pentax glass is awesome. Old screw mount lenses, like the Super tak 50 1.4 are awesome but fully manual. I think K mount lenses can have auto aperture, but it doesn't hurt to check after all.

Interesting point, I hadn't even considered that. That Foveon sensor, if you are correct, could still be amazing. At $9700 though, well, it's a hard sell.

If the highs are clearer on the newer models, I can't wait to hear a pair. The highs were the one thing that I really didn't enjoy on the LCD-2s during the last meet I heard them at, and they made me wish I were just listening to Stax instead.

Yep, you're right. I keep forgetting, given the specs, that that Sigma is a crop sensor, especially at that price point. As mentioned previously, the Pentax 645d is a 40MP medium format body for around the same price. The sensor size difference is significant: 24mm x 16mm vs. 44mm x 33mm (Yes, if we want to be nitpicky, the 645d is still a "crop" sensor in that it has a crop factor of .787). I'm not sure how, with that pixel pitch, this camera will have any decent low-light performance whatsoever.

Erm, the Hasselblad H4D-60 is already 60MP. Sure, it's $40k, but....

Musashi, written by Eiji Yoshikawa and translated by Charles Terry, for the second time. It's a beast of a book, about 1000 pages long (of decidedly small print, mind you), and I feel like I didn't really get it the first time. It's really enjoyable though.
