  1. PN43D450. I had the option of getting a 1080p LCD or a 720p plasma - I chose the plasma, and don't regret it.
  2. I love the way that the genre for Shostakovich 5 is "Shostakovich" on that site. Sums it up pretty well, anyway. I ordered a bunch of them too, thanks.
  3. Pelikan Pura and Lamy Safari Vista fountain pens. They make me want to write rather than dread it. IBM Model M Keyboard, still my favorite typing experience ever. Two things I can't do without in my electronics work, Hakko 936 and Fluke 115. These are obvious to anyone that has used them.
  4. Wow, thanks a lot everyone. Everyone posting here made my day. I am glad (perhaps idiosyncratically) that so many of you thought I was older than I am. I try to be as mature and respectful as possible, especially online, and I like to think that I can be friends with anyone regardless of age. The fact that I'm not alienated from this community because of my age means a lot to me. I just had a nice dinner with my family today, I couldn't ask for anything more. Hope to see you all someday.
  5. The A2s definitely are boomy, I'm hoping the A5s aren't so much. I got them for $278 in an open box deal with free shipping, so I won't be out much if I don't like them anyway. Scubaing off the kayak sounds really interesting. Definitely something I haven't done but would like to someday.
  6. I'm glad. I got it partly on the recommendations from folks here (and mostly because I couldn't afford Quad 12Ls). Have fun kayaking, I like kayaking a lot. Are you doing ocean kayaking with that ocean kayak? I've never done any ocean kayaking and am pretty intrigued by it.
  7. I'll add my sympathies to the pile, Voltron. I can't imagine how hard it must be to lose your mother, especially one as great as yours. Interestingly enough my grandmother passed away while I was in Germany after a long battle with cancer, so I was unable to see her in her final hours. I'm glad that you and your family were able to be with her, I can't think of a better way to go.
  8. The Canon HF G10 is on the top end of that price range and the battery lasts for just under 2 hours. I haven't actually used a camera that exceeds 2 hours of battery life on the standard battery. You can buy extended batteries for it, but they are exceedingly expensive ($100-$200). You could get a cheaper model like the $1000 HF S20 (which is also quite good) and leave room for the high capacity battery in the price. That said, if they're serious about video and have really been using a 5D II, the G10 might be the better option. The S20 is good, but not professional level.
  9. Could be good or bad. It can only be better than Hoya, which largely ignored the Pentax camera brand.
  10. Both beautiful, as everyone said, but boy do I love the Stowa.

    Top Gear

The E Type/XK-E does still look fantastic though.
  12. Eh, nothing much happens in that "other" group anyway.
  13. I'd like to join, if you would have me. http://steamcommunity.com/id/revolink I mostly play TF2 and Starcraft II (which of course isn't a steam game) but I also have L4D2.
  14. I love the Stowa Flieger. Wilco Being There double 180g LP and CD.
  15. Just made some cheapo RCA cables (around $7 for the pair) since I don't really give a shit.
  16. Sorry, already placed the order, but Digikey does have more reasonable shipping for small orders than Mouser, they ship first class as dsavitsk said.
  17. Forgot my choke toroid for my CTH build. Doubt anyone can help me much there, so off to Digikey I go!
  18. Some lens porn of the lens in question. It's beautiful. Pardon the crappy picture, it was taken in a room with no light whatsoever.
  19. Yep, if you wanted to buy it after trying it I'd probably be willing. I'm sorely tempted by the Pentax FA 31 Limited, and I would have to sell off some stuff to fund it (not to mention funding my audio habit.)
