  1. You are perfectly right, of course. In much the same way that a person blowing up a bomb in a tube station isn't really a muslim, even if he calls himself one. And besides, this appears to have been, at least majorly, politically motivated. It's an odd thing really. We haven't experienced anything even approaching this kind of carnage since WWII. Except from general disbelief, we do not know how to react. There is a general sentiment hanging in the air that we were lucky it wasn't an islamic terrorist attack. We all know they don't need any more bad press, and that the world would just have turned even more crazy as a consequence. On the contrary this event may even force discussions about Islam into a more balanced character. At least thats our hope.
  2. The Independent BBC Death toll adjusted to 91, 7 in Oslo bomb and 84 in Utøya shooting. Still believed to be the workings of a lone christian right-wing extremist. Name and photo released. Yes, this is very sad, and we really appreciate your sympathies.
  3. NY Times Party offices in the capital and camp for youth members of the governing Labour Party targeted. Initial suspicions of islamic terrorism seems rather silly now.
  4. Bifrost seems alright to me, and I think we have about equal claims to that heritage. I even find it vaguely poetic to name a DAC after a bridge from the legends. Looks pretty too. Nordost on the other hand sounds like the name of a consortium of nordic cheeseproducers.
  5. It's sounds like advocaat in most respects, except for one
  6. Far from trolling. I'm talking about the DP series. They're still competitive within their segment, in their own quirky way. As for full format DSLRs there are nothing that touches Canon and Nikon, the real question is wether Sigma ever will be a real competitor. The SD1 could be interpreted as that this is at least their intention. Will they succeed? I kind of doubt it, but in the same time it isn't completely impossible.
  7. I think it's sort of nice that Sigma keep their sensor for themselves. It gives us techno/photo geeks something to relish over, kept clean from the dirty hands of the common people.
  8. It's supposed to have a Foveon sensor, right? In press-statements they often count the sub-pixels, but as these are stacked three in height the effective pixel count will be a 3rd of this. Chances are then that the functional pixel count in this case will be 15.3, which isn't all that ridiculous. But the price is. I can easily believe that this will be a wonderful camera, maybe 5DII good, but certainly not $10,000 good.
  9. Ah, but most of the post on this forum aren't potential paradigm changers. Let's face it, knocking an AMB design is pretty big stuff, and should be handeled accordingly if anything good are to come of it.
  10. He could definitely be a bit more classy about it. If there really is something wrong with the design there is no reason for all these theatrics. What would be interesting is to have someone else, independent, run the exact same measurements, on a confirmed proper functioning mini3. After all, repeatability is at the heart of the scientific method.
  11. He sure is one for controversies, but again it is hard to argue against what the measurements read.
  12. According to Reuters several previously unreleased songs will be available as a part of this re-master series. Surely that is the really big news here?
  13. Tyll wrote a little thing about using IEMs while biking, might be worth a look. Clicky-clicky
  14. Sure, why not make fun of the foreign kid. I'll take a break from you weirdos, better? And I actually do not mind weirdos, they're just a bit harder to figure out.
  15. See, that's what I don't get. You call him a douchebag, but the only arrogance I see is yours. I'll take a brake and see if I can get a better grip on you wirdos.
  16. But is it relevant? It reeks of master suppression techniques, as do many of the other posts here.
  17. Faulting a person for his (lack of) reputation, and worse, for his readers' (lack of) reputation, that's a low blow.
  18. One of those 10s should be mine pretty soon. Perfect day tripper/shooter But that rain cover solution seemed unnecessarily complicated.
  19. It looks really good, but as Shelly says, it will be a bitch to carry. All that glass and electronics quickly gets real heavy. Maybe good for short walks in an urban environment, but backpack is the only real option when carrying that much gear. Lowepro's got a good collection, and a nifty tool to help you choose. The CompuRover AW is on my current shortlist.

Oh, I'd love an in depth analysis of the ER/HFs
  21. I thought you were exempt from paying taxes when shipping samples and things for repair. At least I paid nothing when sending my customs back and forth from France. I've always been very intrigued by the Neko DAC, but as the little money I've managed to save up is destined for other uses, I'll have to give it a pass.
  22. Beyer DT250 velour pads fit the V6s like a charm. And the're super comfy.
