Is it only cotton, or is there some other insulation too? If it were wire covered with cotton insulation then techflex it should be pretty damn flexible, unless there is teflon between the wire and cotton, for then it would be much stiffer

is a bit excessive since the spdif already works reasonably well... Short lengths between a few simple components usually jitter less than a studio with countless chains of digital to digital processors and stuff, so no one really felt the need. Jitter is a real concern though even at home with just one transport and dac, especially if you run many meters of cabling and stuff. A word clock whether built in or as a unit probably didn't catch on because by the time they figured jitter could be degrading home audio, jitter reduction devices made by audiophiles companies already popped up which require no extra work by the transport or dac companies or whatever. They let the user decide if they need/want a jitter box. Having wordclock standard in dvd players and cd players etc

Many sony "slim" ones from japan have optical outs. I have a d-ej855, and know 885 and d-ej1000 all do. It is a combo line out/optical out in 1/8 form. There are others too, and all of these come up often and cheap on ebay. They have two gumstick nicd or nimh batteries, and you can add on two aa batteries for obscene battery life with an external tube. Most of these read cdr and cdrw, and omit mp3(the 885 does play mp3 files on cd tho) and all the other nonsense. Plain audio cd players with great battery life, small size, and great transports. The line out is debatable. Much thinner sounding and one level under the old discmans, but are not bad compared with most mp3 player line/hp outs. The g protection(antiskip) is modern and almost perfect- you can stash it in your bag along with say a microdac or something and then an amp, and control with the remote clipped to your shirt.

Your player has awesome de-jittering though, which may be why even running your long ass (how long was it?) toslink has minimal effects on the sound. Not all units that take in toslink think much about jitter levels. -
You came to the right place. I admire and envy pilots. You'll soon be glad you didn't drop the dough on the raptor and yes, digital audio over usb is a fine standard, though the ultra high end dac selection with usb is pretty thin. MPX3 is most likely much better money spent over the raptor, and was my favorite out of the sp line.

I remember now! i wanted it so bad, but i decided it would be more fun to find a pcb and do it myself (still now pcb yet ), but now really regret it looking at the price. No. Hypocrite is a negative description, akin to "liar." A hypocrate however, is a slow moving carton that often holds valuables and is slow because it is careful not to damage the contents. If mister JEEPAK had read the post correctly it should have meant NO BOOOM YOU ARE A HYPOCRATE (in this context, a person filled with valuable(information) who moves slowly and deliberately.) i'll try to be less ambiguous when posting.
