  1. I want a turntable. I don't need a turntable. I am looking to buy a (budget) turntable. I also have a NAD pre with phono in... shame to have it sitting there unused...
  2. May Her Royal Highness celebrate the most exquisite of Birthdays!
  3. I used one here in the US with a 230v CDP that I had (MF xRay v3) and it did not appear to have any impact. Your mileage may vary though when it comes to an amp as I suspect it may be much more sensitive to "dirty" power delivery. I'm sure others with more knowledge will comment.
  4. Spent an excellent evening last night with our own EdipisReks. The Thiels sounded great, the whiskey was smooth, the beer delicious and the conversation insightful. Thanks Jacob. Of course the shovel blow to the head at the end was a surprise but I was protected by the alcohol and avoided the cellar.
  5. Today while driving in Indiana, I crossed a bridge that had a sign saying "Nameless Creek". Now, did it really have no name, or did someone name it "Nameless"?
  6. Drove to just outside of Columbus Ohio. Tomorrow I'll do a run down Ohio 555, a nice stretch of twisty road. Tuesday I hope to connect with our very own Reksy to share some local beer and conversation.
  7. Happy Birthday!!
  8. No luck. We lost. Though the judges didn't give us the nod, we had a large amount of the public come back for seconds and tell us ours was the best, so we felt pretty good. And the whole thing was for charity. People buy bowls for $5 and sample all the chilis. There were 14 cookers this year and it was a good time.
  9. Competing in a chili cookoff. About 90 minutes till judging.
  10. Happy Birthday BA Boy!! Enjoy the day!
  11. Jim Carroll, poet and punk, passed away Friday at the age of 60. Probably most famous for "The Basketball Diaries", I'll remember him for the "Catholic Boy" album - a sweet taste of late 70's NYC punk. "They were all my friends, and they died." NYT Obit
  12. I hate when that happens. Watched the F1 race, mowed the ex's lawn, visited mom, cleaned and re-oiled an air filter, ate real mac & cheese and now sitting in Three Floyds drinking beer.
  13. Genesis - "The Cinema Show"
  14. Just thought of another - "That's Entertainment" by The Jam.
  15. Celery root salad with braised pork cheek. Pork could have been seasoned more, but a splash of Lea & Perrins took care of that.
  16. Excellent. Getting used already.
  17. Nice. One of my all time fav's. I saw him on that tour with Bowie on keyboards and Soupy Sales' boys as the rythm section. Me: Aladdin Sane. In the car. About the only place I listen these days. It's the summer of suck for me and music.
  18. What he said. I worked for a major insurance company many years ago. During the training phase I was not dependent on commision but was paid a salary. I went through the training and did not have to pay money up front. I worked there for a little over 1 year, but as someone else mentioned, I had a problem with some of the tactics they taught you to use. This may not have been endorsed by the company itself, but by older salesmen there. But the comapany seemed happy to turn a blind eye. I never could get my head around some of these methods. My favorite was when trying to sell a husband life insurance, make sure the wife is there too. That way, if he turns it down, you can turn to her and say "well, if he really loved you, he would not turn this down." Pretty cold. But they are not all like this and times have changed to. If the career interests you, search out some of the better companies. Don't fall for the good salesman.
  19. Beach Boys "God Only Knows" King Crimson "I Talk to the Wind/Epitaph" from the first album Be Bop Deluxe "Down on Terminal Street" Chuck Berry "No Particular Place to Go" Those are the ones that quickly came to mind.
  20. Just ordered a Gino's East Meaty Legend pizza. Pepperoni, Italian sausage, Canadian bacon and regular bacon.
  21. Have never seen those but now I need to find them. I love olives almost more than any other food.
  22. No problem. Fat fingers are why i upgraded to an Acer Aspire One D150. Jin, I think you're on deck....
  23. I've got an original Eee PC I need to get rid of. 1GB ram, 4GB SSD. I've added an 8GB flash drive. I need to reload the original Linux on it, and unfortunately it's white. But I'll let it go for $100. It was used lightly and looks new. Give me a shout if you're interested.
  24. Grilled Italian Sausage on a bun with onions and sweet peppers.
