Argh, seems like the 404 LE's have dried up. Anyone have any leads on a pair?

Has anyone compared the 404 LE's to the ESP 950's?

I'm still interested - enough to buy a pair if I had the cash.

When I was getting back into 'phones again this time I almost pre-ordered the T1 instead of buying the ESP 950's. It's a happy decision to a point as I really love the sound of the 950's, but I'd love to have an equally good dynamic around (probably for work).

Anyone here had a chance to listen to these yet? I've been intrigued since the announcement, but I've forgone going anywhere on head-fi aside from the DIY forum. I may venture into the headphone forum to find impressions on the T1, but I wanted to see if anyone here had any experience with them.

In my current situation I don't really have a designated area for electronics work. While trying to find a wife-accepted permanent location I've had to make due with a few impromptu work areas, all of which have really inadequate lighting. Funds are tight, but I absolutely can't afford to ruin another component attempting to forge ahead despite poor lighting conditions. I'm looking for something <$40 shipped (or bought locally) that can work well as a light for electronics work. Anyone have any suggestions on what to go for?

I think it more or less is greed that makes the modern world go 'round, unfortunately. I'm sure you'll find people who think greed isn't the primary factor, and you'll also find people who think that greed being the primary factor is a good thing.

I don't think it's in your range, but I love my Honda Fit (I'm a hatchback guy). The new Ford Fiesta looks like it'll be a good contender, too, but it's not out for a few more months so it doesn't help much. catscratch is right, in your position I'd probably step up one size from the hatchbacks used.

I really have no idea what anyone else listens to, but I think this is a cool idea for a thread. I'm sure I could find someone's collection worthy of pilfering.

This makes me sad - and not just because I love my ESP950. People suck.

Argh, I thought I'd seen people using the balanced shunt pot scheme with amps other than those with a differential pair input. Can anyone tell me whether or not the schematic I posted would work with the eXStata?

Hey guys, I need to put together a wallwart for a project I'm working on. Is there any place that sells empty wallwarts you can put your own traffo in? I'm looking to get a 24-36vac center-tapped output. Any suggestions on a plug with three contacts to use for it, also? -edit- found an empty shell and a suitable traffo at jameco. Any ideas on a plug?

Well, I guess I'll just get the regular TKD. Just to make sure I'm thinking along the right line here: is there anything wrong with taking in a stereo signal, attenuating it with a pot, then passing the output of the pot to some transformers to get a differential signal? It seems like it should be fine to me, but I'm worried about the output impedance of the pot being too high to go into the transformers.

I had a 50k TKD pot in a 2-channel B22. I thought it was the best potentiometer I've used, hands down. I need to pick up another pot, and I'm probably going to get a TKD. Has anyone ever compared them to an Alps RK40?

Looking at the pics on his site, I'd judge he probably does them as outlined in the xin link I posted earlier.
