  1. Sweet =/ Can you tell what he used for the pins? Are those just lead clippings?
  2. Best I can find is something like this. Not the prettiest.
  3. Are the connectors Etymotic uses to attach the cables to the pods of the ER4 custom? I'm thinking of building a cable for them and would hate to splice the original connectors.
  4. Nice. I've never actually listened to the AE-2. Perhaps I'll change my preorder to an order for the Pico. Is it $20 or $40 extra to have different color end panels (I'm thinking red or grey)?
  5. lol. Of course, the thought of Pico by itself crossed my mind, but I think there are better straight-up amps than the Pico (like the AE-2 mentioned).
  6. Any suggestions on a good battery-powered amp to go with this?
  7. Those maggies look interesting (also the Omegas). Any idea how they compare to Quad 12L's? I'm considering an upgrade, also.
  8. You're more than welcome. I'll let you know when I eventually have an ETA on them. -edit- and hopefully I have a source besides my HT Omega soundcard by then
  9. I just pre-ordered a pair O.o Now I just need to sell off the ESW10's and a couple guitars to recoup the loss.
  10. Buffalo owns my panties. I miss the one I put together.
  11. Hi Steve Been out a bit due to the wedding bells and also my renewed obsession with guitar. It's hard to have two expensive hobbies, haha. I've got my 10's now. I think the ESW10 is easily superior to the K701, but that's a preference thing The SR-Lambda is definitely sweet, though. I would have kept those had I not found them a little fatiguing. I do definitely think the 10's are worthy of home listening, though. A bit more listening time will tell.
  12. I ordered a pair of these yesterday (through kuboten). Hope I enjoy dipping my toes back into hifi
  13. I still wonder which customs might sound the most like the Triple.Fi's (but better, of course, and especially more comfortable). I have hopes that after my wedding I'll be able to build funds up again for a pair.
  14. Any idea which sounded more like the Triple.fi's? Is there a pair of fullsized cans that has a similar level of bass? I'm looking for something to compare to.
  15. lol...very nice I look forward to seeing what you think.
  16. Thanks for the further suggestions guys. I'm still doing research on this and making small plans. It's probably still a month off due to the wonders of wedding costs and other stuff unless I decide to sell some stuff.
  17. i'm one of those idiots that did a balanced beta22 for his first project. at least it worked out ok for me, but I completely agree. Nice project, Nate! I was thinking of the TubelabSE as opposed to the SimpleSE for a headphone amp (similar names), but the SimpleSE looks pretty awesome for speakers. I can't wait to check out your progress. I still get the urge to build either the Menace or the TubelabSE as I planned before, but I'm not sure when that'll happen due to my renewed passion for guitar and my love of the triple.fi's (which don't need much of an amp if any).
  18. Great, thanks for the impressions
  19. Perhaps. I've heard good things about Marshall's for metal. Thanks Dusty Chalk. I've also heard good things about Ampegs and MesaBoogies (drool). I'll have to see if I can find any schems for either out there. -edit- also, I'd prefer to just build a head to use with a cab instead of making a combo amp. Any suggestions on a decent but cheap(ish) 1x12 or 2x12 cab?
  20. I use to have that amp...it's nice. I'm looking more into the Gibson amps 909 mentioned, and it sounds like a good bet and not hard to put together. I do worry about it working ok for metal, though...maybe with a nice distortion pedal (Boss MT-2 maybe). I guess I could just use it as a practice amp (not like I'm gigging right now anyway) and add a headphone output to it as well.
  21. Cool, thanks for the suggestion -edit- forgot to mention, my guitar is a PRS SE Custom, for tonal purposes.
  22. I'm wanting to actually build one, like possibly something off of ax84.com or likewise. I might consider buying a complete amp, though, in which case I'm open to used.
  23. Hrmm. I'd like to keep it cheaper for a first guitar amp...say less than $300 (though I can be persuaded to up it).
  24. I've been getting back into guitar lately and think I'll want to put together an amp relatively soon to replace the cheap starter I'm using. Anyone have any ideas on a good one to put together?
