  1. I'd be interested in which is more like the Triple.Fi's. Those are almost perfect for me. -edit- boomana, I'm a cat person, but I think I like the poppy symbol better. I'm not really sure what it would look best on, though.
  2. yeah, that logo is mad sweet y0!
  3. If I ever end up getting a pair, I'll probably get the left ear solid white and the right ear solid black. It's a shoutout to the name I use most everywhere else (LightMeDark) and also to Lost (scene in pilot where Locke holds up the white and the black backgammon pieces).
  4. Thanks for looking, Nate. I've emailed cetoole. -edit- sorry for the threadjack, naamanf
  5. Anyone have any LM317T's? I need two and hate to place an order for that as well. I can paypal.
  6. I want a pair of UE-11's pretty badly, and if I end up moving to the DC area I'll probably invest in some as I'll be commuting by train a lot.
  7. Hope all goes well this time around!
  8. I'm the weird guy that loves the D2000, so I'm keeping an eye on this.
  9. Yeah, I would assume the Sabre8 is the superior part on paper, easily. I did order the D1V3 kit a few days ago, so I'm hoping it'll ship out by the 14th. I often see the PCM63 (along with AD1862) lauded as the best DAC chip ever for subjective sound quality, but you never know. I was mainly asking as I'll have to sell one or the other as I don't have the need or the cash to keep both around.
  10. Any guesses on which might be better: a Buffalo with good output stage or the D1V3 Pass "clone?"
  11. Cool...knowing my own weak hold on my wallet, I'll probably end up picking up parts for it as well.
  12. Of course it's not an exact clone due to several changes, but I was wondering what opinions of the project might be. Check it out here/. I'm considering taking that and doing some mods to it or taking the Buffalo and building a DAC around that, or maybe even the PCM1794 or PCM1704. I'm just throwing this out here to see what kind of opinion I get.
  13. Firefly flipping owns your face, you must watch. My favorite television series ever, however short-lived (perhaps Lost will overtake it eventually, depending on how it ends).
  14. Cool, thanks blessingx. I look forward to what you think once you receive the dac.
  15. Cool, looking forward to impressions. I was looking at this a couple days ago thinking it could be a fun project to mod depending on the internal layout.
  16. Oh well, I guess I'll go ahead with the S22/S11 Buffalo setup and only mess with it if I hear something I don't like.
  17. Where do you pick up EI and r-core traffos? I'm currently rebuilding my Buffalo DAC with a Sigma22 for the IVY power supply and two sigma11's, one for digital and one for analog for the buffalo itself. Perhaps I should take a look into a different solution? Also, I'm using all Antek Inc. toroids...they're physically larger for same rating compared to Avel Lindbergs or Amvecos. Is that what you're referring to with the oversized traffo comment?
  18. Well, I had a pair of SR-003 that bothered me initially until I got used to them, and IEM's hurt if I haven't used them in quite a while...otherwise, no problems. I thought the K701 was super comfortable, but I found them on the bass-shy side and something in their sound fatigued my ears.
  19. When I owned a pair of K701 I never even noticed there were bumps. I think I must have an iron head, though, as I've never really found any pair of headphones too uncomfortable.
  20. Yeah, I really enjoyed figuring out the layout for a Starving Student. It will be several weeks before I get to it, but I really liked doing a layout with something so simple.
  21. Thanks aerius. As I said, I'm having fun with the speakers and IEMs for now, but I don't really doubt that I'll want to revisit this idea and put together a nice tube amp.
  22. Sweet, at least now I know I'm not crazy (or at least they're are other crazy people like me )
  23. lol, such is the cycle. I've done it before. I spent about a year with only IEM's before getting back into fullsize cans the last time.
  24. I know, I'm a jackass...what can I say? -edit- Also, I got a pair of triple.fi's recently and am blown away by them. They have a huuuuuge soundstage for being an IEM. Seriously. Maybe even a tad bigger than the stage I get from HD650's...it's crazy. I love the frequency response, I love the detailing, and I love the bass. Of course, I need more time to live with them before any solid decisions, but these are making me wonder why bother with any fullsize headphones (except where I need open 'phones). The only thing they lack is a bit of weight and heft behind the sound when I'm listening at low levels, and the tone of instruments seems ever so slightly off, but that could be because I've only been listening to 650's for months.
