Great post, thanks Nate! I was thinking it was going to be along the lines of the Waarde or Wheatfield. I'm certainly interested in seeing the completion of your project...looks flippin' sweet.
I want one for the bluray, but there are no games coming to it (and not the 360) that I care about, 'cept FFXIII. I'll probably have to get one whenever a release date for that is announced.
I didn't really notice much burn-in with the Ultrasone PL2500, but I have to say they're much better (to me) than the K701. To me, the insanity is having the K701 in your headphone collection
I'm rather taken by the SR-Lamda w/ SRD-7 SB I just bought, so that has me thinking...now comes the scouring audiogon at all hours for one, ponying up and buying one new, or building my own SEP amp.
Time to gather some things to sell
hey man, the shuffle is tops! ;p
-edit- there was another he90 there, too, correct? or maybe it was the same he90, but it was hooked up by the OII...i think both were being fed by the transporter. I listened to it there, as well, and was similarly unimpressed...then again, it was music I wasn't familiar with.
I heard the aristeus with he90 at the DC meet last July and came away pretty unimpressed...of course, meet impressions are meet impressions
At the same meet I heard the OII and came away from the meet knowing either the K1k or OII would be the place I'd eventually settle as for my main can. The K1k has come and gone, so I'm guessing the OII is in my future, somewhere down the line.
I'm listening to the SR-Lambda I just got and am liking it. Going through SRD-7 SB, hooked up to my cheap receiver...I'll look forward to hearing it with a proper speaker amp.

And I actually have a two-channel (no active ground) Beta22...it's awesome as-is. I'd like to compare passive ground to active ground. Actually, I think I'll have the chance soon (my b22 speaker amp has an active ground for the headphone output), so I'll post my impressions then.
It's not that I think the B22 is suddenly a turd and not even really that I necessarily need more power...the thing I like about the B24 design is that it is fully differential, which I imagine has benefits over using two single channel amps to amp the + and - signals.
