Blast from the past: This video was uploaded to YT over 15 years ago(!) -
Both Mixlr and Mixcloud have been giving me some trouble recently. I've been updating the names and descriptions of sets on my Mixlr showreel to reflect the date and track listing. Mixcloud requires a track listing, but doesn't show it (WAT.) Here's the show from two weeks ago: I'm going to try to upload the next two later this evening. The above took 4 tries, because reasons.

I genuinely don't know what to make of this video. Bret Weinstein is a very smart dude, but he regularly goes into all sorts of kooky shit that I have great trouble stomaching. He was involved in some academic kerfuffle a number of years ago that brought him international attention and several appearances on the Joe Rogan podcast (such that it is.) His wife is also a very smart lady, but I know little about her. Bret's brother Eric, OTOH, is spooky smart. He's one of those guys that is visibly brilliant. I was sufficiently fascinated by what Eric said in a couple instances to extract the audio from YT clips and turn them into samples to play back on my radio show. (Eric is not in this video.) Bill Maher is the most Boomer Ass Boomer from Boomerstan. Bill is like a parody of every insult, jibe and accusation that younger generations throw at Baby Boomers. I don't know anyone on the left, right or center who can stand him. Bill is at least as out of his depth understanding this subject as I am. As I said, I have no idea what to make of this video. I'm going to fall back on healthy skepticism. -

Man, Adult. brings me back to the early 00s and dawn of SoulSeek. I totally missed 2000's Nausea, but I was there for Resuscitation and Anxiety Always. The latter was a big enough release that we got some promo material at WAMH (it's worth noting that I was also heavily involved with WAMH in the early 2000s.) Initially I didn't like Anxiety Always at all, especially after how much I enjoyed Resuscitation. I should revisit it as it's been more than 15 years since I gave it a proper listen.

I spent several days transferring ~25MB of data off a 1991 IBM PS/2 Model 30/286 that had a broken floppy drive. I ended up using a Tripp Lite USB to Serial adapter and a null modem cable. Man, does late 80s/early 90s technology make you feel like it's actually doing something. The PS/2's fan (singular) is loud AF. The HDD is loud AF and makes a very distinct noise on every read or write. Also text based modem software looks the way Hollywood portrayed anything computer related ...until well into the 00s.

I'm glad I never sold mine. (GLite V.1 or its DPS.) I did send The World's Fattest Wallwart to the World's Fattest Headed Mexican a while back, but I digress... -
Man, did I sleep like a baby last night. I slept IN as well, which felt wonderful. I woke up to NPR playing Garth Brooks, which was kind of weird. He doesn't strike me as public radio's normal fare. All day everyone has seemed to be in a good mood, and I can't figure out why. It's like the whole nation got a good night's sleep as well. Funny thing, that.
