Shit. Things are going downhill fast here. A rogue FW400 cable tore the pins out of my MacBook's firewire port. This was not some crap cable, either. I should have used the cheapo one that came with my FW card reader. Now I cannot copy pictures from either of my camera to the laptop (it's not recognizing either of them via USB.) I'm stuck here until Saturday. On the plus side, I figured out how to set up Internet Connection Sharing, so now mum can check her email on her iBook G3, leaving me to curse my own laptop in piece.

I brought a handful of cigars to the Vineyard, but the weather has not lent itself to smoking them.

Apparently so. I am officially here to meet with the professionals who will blow up the current house, cart of the debris, and then build a new one. That wasn't sufficiently stressful or headache-inducing, so on top of that we have a dead furnace and sub-freezing weather for the next four days. Three calls to the service dept. of the oil company have elicited a "it's on a tech's work list" response. Until then, I sit tight and try not to freeze solid.

It's "wintery mix"-ing on the Vineyard right now. Goes really well with the broken heating system. It's supposed to get into the low 20s tonight. 0_o

Drove across the state. Got on a boat. Got off the boat. Drove to cottage. Hooked up the gas and water. Discovered that the oil burner is once again not working. Utterly failed to get the Blackberry and Macintop to tether. Drove to a known wifi hotspot to download the new version of BB Desktop. Going home and faceplanting. No Scotch in the cottage. \

No longer on a boat, but now in a parking lot. Can't get the Mac and the Blackberry to tether anymore.
