When I sell something I make a thread about how I hate it first.

BG 2 - you have to make a fresh character and be human and can't multiclass (though you can dual class later). if you specialized in katana and dual wield it was pretty disgusting (given you could cast high level wizard spells, too). the period where you waited for your wizard level to equal your kensai level sucked, though

I'd agree with that - especially in terms of depth. KOTOR dramatically exceeded my expectations, though. NWN was more humdrum I'm-playing-this-til-something-better-comes-along gaming. I can say it isn't just nostalgia, too, as I didn't actually pick up BG until 2004.

I never managed to play torment either, as I got sucked into BG expansions and the sequel, which felt like it took me a year to finish. Then, grad school. it's a shame such awesome games happen so rarely though. The best rpg in recent memory was probably KOTOR (and kotor2 until the ending). We want story, dammit!

maybe k501's? senn hd280's are -very- closed and bass-light, though they can have some funky 20-45hz action due to how well they seal. If she has tinnitus, wouldn't a closed can and lower volumes make it more noticable? (Though I suppose a listening habit that doesn't exacerbate it would be a good idea).

How about a stand, boxes/case to put phones in, or the like? Some people are just hard to shop for - giving a handful of ideas will still make it a bit of a surprise (or she may come up with something entirely new based on the suggestions). I'd avoid a headphone because you may return it/sell it later. It is easier to buy a desk humidor for a smoker rather than the "right" cigars.

I just know what things I'm not good at. DIY electronics is one of them, and I'm happy to support the builders that -are- good at it.

Doubtful. I'd be willing to put money on the fact that in most cases, virtuoso kids (or top kid athletes, or whatever) have felt a sort of vague world-crushing sensation from their parents for as long as they can remember, and would probably like to just go play nintendo wii for a bit.
