  1. I've a pair of SR-5/NB which have developped strong imbalance...I may end up with this kind of solution/try, unless I find some spare drivers... Ali
  2. Got mine for a happy 390 € shipped, from Russia...great deal, indeed. Ali
  3. Great build. Looks nothing like diy. Ali
  4. HD800 is unavailable on many sites, indeed. Especially on official Sennheiser sites. I guess lots of sale + not enough anticipation with stocks + Christmas holidays at Sennheiser factory = product temporarily unavailable. Sennheiser doesn't change its line-up every morning like for instance Audeze or worse, Audio-GD. Ali
  5. Got my hands on some SR-007 mk1. Now I DO understand all this power-craving needs. The thing is pretty flat and almost boring out of my Stax amps (SRM-727II and SRM-1/mk2), I have to go on SRD-7/mk2 to get some dynamics, an I loose lots of details / extension. I hold my ticket in the BHSE waiting line strong (since may). How do you say it...? Yeah, MOAAR Ali
  6. Unfortunately it's silver only. Then, no interest for it Ali
  7. SCSE. Silicon Carbide Special Edition. Moar voltage, moar current, moaaar better. Ali
  8. When I set my amp with the AC cable from my raclette device, mids are way more fatty, indeed. Ali
  9. Back or front ? Back foam (yellow one + thin black grid) is in perfect shape on mine, no more front foam tough...I'll cut in some HD600 foam disc one day or another to avoid too much skin oil on plastic inner frame. BTW, headpad is almost completely in good shape, simply using it Ali
  10. I was especially looking for this rarity, even if they aren't in the same unobtainium league as SR-X/mk3 pro sibling. And the price was a real steal. You're right, I'll keep them that way Ali
  11. Thank you Birgir. Good idea to unmount the fork, but since the Don himself says it's tricky...I think I'll keep it that way The headpad is not worn nor stretched, just a bit twisted, probably bad storage. I suppose I just have to wear it / let it rest on a good shaped stand to get something a bit more good looking. BTW, very pleasant set of cans. SR-5 / SR-X family sound without any doubt, but more kick and more extension Ali
  12. Just received an SR-Gamma Pro. And I wonder how to change the headpad, since its a bit stiff, stiffer than today's pads and also plastic-framed vintage pads. There aren't any screws on the mounting parts, only plastic chips...and I don't want to break anything. Did anyone already performed this ? Thanks. Ali
  13. I've read somewhere high bias cans won't like playing too loud out of normal bias...but I don't remember why. Birgir may help (as usual). Ali
  14. Justin does offer Shuguang treasures tubes for BHSE, but doesn't want to hear about Psvane EL34PH because of reliability issues. Isn't it the same company ? Ali
  15. I've asked Justin about it on HF. Whenever you don't have any allergic reaction to HF, you may go there and read the details Ali
  16. May I post some BHSE pr0n, instead ? Ali
  17. Nice. And black. Like your next mini KGSSHV Ali
  18. Time for fun fact. A step-up transformer box called "Verto" already exists. Built by Ortofon, for MC phono cartridges : http://ortofon.com/hifi/products/transformers/verto One more thing : transformers inside this box are lundahl's. Could this Verto box have mafia's approval ? Ali
  19. I've no interest in this transformer box since I already have two SRD-7/SB (mk1 and mk2). Sound is nice, especially with my vintage sets, somewhat foot-tapping because of mids-hump, but it is no match for a basic SRM-1/mk2 pro : details retrieval, extension, soundstage, dynamics, bass tightness, etc... I don't have a clue in electronics, but I'm convinced the amplifier path is the right one for e-stat headphones. At least because Stax driving units are now amps only. And though the mafia points out some "flaws" (unregulated PSU, overdriven tubes in 007t, no feedback on 727's last stage, etc..), most of them because these units are built to a price point, I do think they are great value for the money. And the build quality is quite there. Last but not least, I'm on the list for a BHSE ( #4 batch), because I'm convinced this is the endgame commercial amp for Stax phones today (and it's amp-pr0n to look at ). And please kill me without mercy whenever I complain about the waiting time. But Birgir, let's face it : this Verto unit didn't work because it was damaged. And it has more likely something to do with the build quality the reviewer points out. Anyway, your little SB boxes are appealing. Could a basic O2 amp feed them ? Ali
  20. There is no such thing as bad publicity. Ali
  21. Mini size is far more appealing than a bunch of outputs, indeed. Ali
  22. Do it. Whenever you change your mind, it'll be time. Ali
