  1. Yes I'll have it in Florida, although maybe not with a finished chassis...it will be close timing
  2. elnero, the screws will be flush with the front panel, so that's something not accurate on the drawing the HeadAmp logo will be on the back panel
  3. the knob is also smaller than your pinky fingernail to the fingertip. My pinky there is a little more than 1/2" diameter -- this knob is 0.41" diameter.
  4. I picked that style of knob because there are a lot of complaints with small portable amps about the difficulty in turning the volume knob when a cable is plugged in next to it. This kind of knob allows it to be gripped from the front, not just the sides, making it easier to turn
  5. Here is a good idea of what the Pico will look like when it's done. Credit goes to the very talented Edwood for the drawing!
  6. the new iPod Nanos came out today and the dimensions are very similar to the Pico.....great for stacking Nano: 2.06 x 2.75 Pico: 2.00 x 2.74
  7. and the Wheatfield HA-2 used those tubes how many years before that?
  8. I don't think any headphone with a dual headband should qualify
  9. they do go a little far on the sugar -- although at only 25g, that's about half of what's in a coke, so not too bad. it's sweet enough with the apples and yogurt, there's no need for the sugar on the walnuts. therefore it might be better to mod this and supply your own nuts
  10. wikipedia says.. The ingredients are seedless grapes, apple slices, candied walnuts and low-fat vanilla yogurt. Including the walnuts, it has 330 calories. The apple slices are dipped in the preservative calcium ascorbate, a compound of calcium and vitamin C, in order to keep them crisp and prevent them losing color and flavor. crap i forgot the grapes in my review
  11. whatever it is it cant be worse than what's in the rest of their food, soft drinks, or frozen dinners
  12. This has to be the best thing on the McDonalds menu, and also the only thing that probably won't lead to an early death. What you have is a reasonably sized small meal or snack (about 300 calories, similar to a large bowl of cereal) consisting of sliced apples which have been dipped in some preservative to keep their color and crunchiness, salted or sweetened walnuts, and a vanilla yogurt. I like to dip the apple slice in the yogurt, then stick a walnut on top of it, then eat it. It's a good combination. Also, each fruit & walnut salad is wrapped in plastic so you can stock up and keep them in your fridge. Hard to beat at $1.90 each (offer not valid in AK or HI) Most likely McDonalds will decide this food is too healthy and remove it from their menu. Overall, I give it a 9/10. The only thing it could use is a little more walnut
  13. None of those have anything on the Stax 404
  14. I'm not sure Harmony would test very well with the 18-30 males
  15. im still holding out hope that Linear Systems releases the new parts this year. it would still be possible to go on using the individual Toshiba FETs, matching them and bonding them together. Per amp channel I am probably already putting in 25 times as much labor compared to most op-amp based amps, with 50 parts including 12 transistors that need matching, even more on the new modules, and I have to draw the line somewhere. The Linear Systems part (the one that is available now) has been measured to be lower gain than the Toshiba so that may require some circuit changes if the overall gain isnt high enough for the negative feedback to do its job.
  16. I like it too. Since everyone already took the cooler sounding Si units (micro and nano, and a laptop manufacturer called Zepto)
  17. Harmony Neptune pico picoAmp Spectrum
  18. It looks like it says Crado Reference Series must be the new chinese knock-off brand
  19. I should mention that I'm taking name suggestions The name should be something that will work for either the amp or amp+dac version, and then something like "with DAC" or "+DAC" or "USB" will be added to the end of it
  20. http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=1F13F978&nplm=MB167LL/A I'm thinking of picking up this new Apple keyboard that just came out today. It doesn't ship for 3-5 weeks but there's already a positive review
  21. if you're playing 44.1khz audio, which is just about everything, then you should set the output to 44.1khz if you have the ability to do so. it uses 100mA of current from the USB port so even the oldest computers with USB will be able to support it
  22. What is a W11JPN? It sounds like a name for a wireless router
  23. I believe he has said Head-Fi is owned by his company
