Apple 8GB Iphone Refurb $250
aardvark baguette replied to aardvark baguette's topic in GoRedwings19's Computer Help Hotline
I've had pretty lousy luck with my iphone lately. Not ATTs fault, but I get zero reception in my house or my office. So I can really only use the phone in the car, which I don't do, because I am firmly against driving and talking at the same time. I'm either going 3G when it gets here, or just canning the whole thing and getting an ipod touch, I think. I'm paying $70 a month for basically an ipod and web. -

Tube question: Supposing one had to replace tubes down the line; are these special, in their use of the wire going to the top? Or do you re-use the same wire? I've not seen this in any other amp before, so I apologize for any gross incompetence here -
Does Colbert's right ear bother anyone else?

lol yeah. Though to be fair, I've said far worse, and been at least as angry Like when I got a D in Spanish in college and had to repeat the course. I was maaaaaaaaaaaad.

Bill looks strange with hair.

Ignoring all of your requirements, why don't you try this?

Cambridge 840C using it as a DAC with Ipod and laptop
aardvark baguette replied to riceboy's topic in Home Source Components
I must be thinking of a more expensive one then. Im pretty sure there was a masterclock that offered upsampling to sources without the clock input (whatever its called) Maybe I'm dreaming. Speaking of which...time for bed -
Anyone know if DCD SACD are limited edition? Cause I'd rather wait until I have a player before buying the set, if possible.
-
I never understood why anyone would go through all the bullshit hassles of tapping the dac in an ipod, when for less money you get digital output from a player/computer which won't have a failing battery down the road. Apple publicly admitted they design ipods to be used approximately 4 years.

I've got somethin organic and kosher for you right here

True. But supposedly the clock still offers upsampling, iirc. -

I would never attempt to learn a genre by going off any list; its like going from The Bible to The Karon to The 911 Commission Reports. Too much of a gap there I've been buying all the jazz I can afford since September and haven't even scratched the surface. The most interesting aspect, to me, is that many of the Bop era artists had open contracts, and were basically for-hire for other people's albums. Particularly Blue Note contracted artists. Hank Mobely appears on Art Blakey's album, who appears on Lee Morgan's album, who appears on Clifford Jordan's album, who appears on Eric Dolphy's album.... I've typically bought a few albums from one artist, picked a supporting member and bought a few of theirs, etc, etc. Its such a fun way to discover the music, and gives a real sense of history of how all the artists relate to each other.

Yeah lossless grows like a fuckin Cha-cha-cha-Chia pet. Its misleading, because a few CDs here or there only feels like a gig or two gone, but before you know it you've added 50 gigs in 3-6 months time. I started out predominately Apple Lossless, but have switched to flac disc images most recently. For me, Foobar sometimes has difficulty retrieving a track or two of Apple Lossless, and insists it is corrupt or gone, despite working in iTunes. Once that started happening, I insisted on having my music on at least two drives. Its this step that makes everything so dang complicated, because any time you upgrade, to do it correctly you need to be able to make duplicate upgrades. Nothing like a little data corruption to make you dangerously paranoid :'(

This is just broad strokes; Sinatra doesn't belong here. Move along

Why dont you get the Esoteric masterclock as a playmate to the Cambridge. I'm still trying to decide what my next CD/SACD player will be, but I could always get the clock first...and pair it with an Oppo Digital http://www.musicdirect.com/product/71883 -
happy birthday

Same with me, except HD650s. I'll probably add some stats at some point, <Emperor Palpatine> It is inevitable... </Emperor Palpatine> but I'm never going to ditch all my dynamic stuff. I've spent too long building it up, and sounds great. I'm trying to convince myself NOT to get the new Millet/TTVJ beast. But I dont know if I can justify 3 amps

Looks great. I bet it sings.

I've not followed Stax too closely, but having learned that the new O2 is different than the old version, I may get an old version before they become unavailable (hopefully thats not already the case) Would someone verify if one of these is the old version? If not, whats the difference, other than cosmetic? http://www.audiocubes2.com/brand/Stax/product/Stax_SR-007_(OmegaII)_Electrostatic_Earspeakers.html http://www.audiocubes2.com/brand/Stax/product/Stax_SR-007A_(OmegaII)_Electrostatic_Earspeakers.html They appear to be the same impedance.

Not regularly, but they had an informative bit on PETA on youtube.
