I listened to Brians (bhjazzz) CKIII at the Seattle meet and it's a damn fine amp driving the HP-1. At that price I'd buy it myself if I had any use for a headphone amp. Not enough grunt for my K's or Staxens though.

So, anyone with more thoughts on the O2? References to well known cans may be helpful (K1000 fer instance) so I can persuade myself I still don't need them

Ok, bitch time. I wrote to Yamas to ask about price and availability of O2 Arcs and they told me to go to my local Stax dealer (there isn't one) or provide them with the serial # of the O2 unit I want the part for They're really pissy about grey imports apparently and don't want to sell part for anything that wasn't sold through official channels. I've told them it's to patch up my SR-X so we'll see how petty they are about it. I may have to try Japan directly but suspect they'll tell me to go to Yamas. I hate BS like this, it's a fucking headband! Pricks.

I was quite surprised with the old SR-Lambda. I sounds more natural overall, not as etched or as shrill as the 404 and can be driven nicely through a SRD-6SB. I sold the 404 but I'm keeping the Lambda. The fact that they're low bias does nothing to harm the sound whatsoever. If you go for the Agon SR-Lambda I'll throw you an SRD-6 SB, as long as you have a power amp of some description it'll be a great Stax entrance.

Most seem happy with them. I prefer my SR-Lambda to the 404 I had but that's not necessarily a universal opinion, just my personal preference. As to 303 or 404, I'd go 303 because it's the same phone with a different cable which doesn't really make any noticeable difference but costs a lot more.

Hah, that's cool. Now if only someone would do that with Grados in Urup.
