  1. Optimising the physical layout in the chassis. I was wondering why is that 10M90S on the positive GRHV board mounted on that Aavid heatsink and not directly to the side heatsink as the others, any particular reason? It always gets in the way.
  2. Thanks, Sebtdi. Possible to possible pics from front and back of the actual SICs?
  3. Can you post the sellers name? Thx. Nice work! Could you post or link the source file for the 3D printer. Thx.
  4. You can use the 1200V Wolfspeed SiC's C3M0350120D instead of the C2M1000170D. Blueman2 has used the 1200V ROHM SIC's SCT2H12NZGC11 in his GRHV without an issue as well. PZTA56 is currently still available at RS Components. DN2540N5-G is available at Farnell, Digikey, TME. The DN2540N3-G is pretty much out of stock currently.
  5. Heads up on the Panasonic caps James mentioned! Recently I found out the Kemet 220uF 50V 105°C has spec'ed little bit longer life than the Panasonic FR and is mostly half the price. You can measure the reference voltage the LT1021DCN8-10#PBF provides between GND and pin 6 (Vout). Take a look at the specs here.
  6. I can get genuine LSK489/LSJ689 in TO-71 6L or SOT-23 6L as well as LSK389/LSJ109 in TO-71 6L. Waiting for prices... the LSK389A TO-71 is about 12 Euro the piece.
  7. Hi Pars, that is correct. However, if someone already has a CT transformer, i.e. only three leads coming out of the secondaries, then a single bridge is a must use and there is no way around it. However, ordering a new transformer I would as well prefer ordering it with two secondaries. Then you have all the connection freedom.
  8. Excellent writeup as always, thx James. On a side note, for the inner Phoenix 3P connector, I am using the rised version of it, just to make wiring easier. Here how it looks like.
  9. Anyone managed to build both the Soekris R2R and AMB's y3 DACs and compare both? Would be awesome to hear. Cheers.
  10. Anyone managed to build the fully balanced dam1941 version? How is the sound and filters available?
  11. Hey Kerry, I have typed this wrong. I know the GRHV/LV from within the mini T2, I was thinking about your later and scaled down real T2 PSU.
  12. Is this a Carbon with external PSU? Looks awesome, JoaMat!
  13. I wish all those DACs had a build in Ethernet port based off a Raspberry Pi, so that they can function as a Roon or LMS endpoint directly. Ok, not that a Pi couldn't be build in and connected to the USB. Nicer would be directly through I2S instead of USB.
  14. Michael, why not running the ground wire from each of the PSUs directly to the star ground (instead of the serial connection of PSUs)?
  15. Will Kerry publish his new mini T2 PSU? That would be awesome!
  16. Thanks, guys! Found this here as well https://www.head-fi.org/threads/6922-tube-review-17-top-6922-6n23p-e88cc-cca-7308-e188cc-tubes.761078/ Looks like the Valvo E88CC CCa Herleen white imprint and gold pins is a best buy for around 90/pair here in Europe. Interesting the list above is headed by a Russian REFLECTOR make with silver shields specifically from 1975, even in front of Telefunken or Siemens. They are talking "solid state fast and precise, but with tube liquidity and warmth".
  17. Any good source for matched 6922 or the European made E88CC with gold pins, like Amperex, Telefunken, Philips, Siemens?
  18. Would like to test the J79 and C3381 prior soldering them. Anyone can help? Every other component I have tested on its own prior soldering. Decided to use the KSA1156 on the heatsinks instead of 1486, despite having them. From what I've read it shouldn't matter at all. Everywhere else using 1486. No other mods whatsoever. Curious to hear what Dr. Gilmore thoughts are regarding this. @kevin gilmore Thank you, highly appreciated.
  19. Had to use tricks 🙂 to hold the 10PPSG washer in place on the K216 as it rotates awfully during tightening. Lifted the 6DJ8 teflon socket as much as possible as they are lower than the 6CA7. Resistors are all Xicon 273 series and raised 1.5mm from the board.
  20. Stuffing some Carbon boards over here while waiting for parts...
  21. Why did actually the T2 end up using a 50k pot and not like the other KG designs, BHSE, etc a 10k? I think at 2012 time frame the RK50 was available in 10k so the DACT (which still is).
  22. Kevin, does the same connection and testing procedure apply for the J79 as well? Then testing as PNP of course. Thanks! @kevin gilmore
  23. I have put the 2SC3675 with the highest breakdown voltage (above 1120) into the batteries. Any particular places of importance for the remaining 3675? I have 1060 to 1105.
  24. What resistor values are you guys using for load testing the T2 PSU?
