  1. True for the most part. I'm still learning post-processing and sharpening is something I'm not overly confident about, I just sharpen to a point that looks good to me without pushing artifacts or looking like overkill (these are around 120/0.4/0 USM in CS2). So I'm sure that my point of view in that regard may or may not be what someone else considers correct. I did take some pics at smaller apetures, but the meager amount of extra sharpness was not worth the tradeoff for smoother, less distracting OOF areas. I'm going to compare the performance of the two for a while, including using the Pico to amp the Apogee's analog output. At this point I'm not sure if I'll keep the Apogee or not, it is more convenient for speaker use.

Perhaps, indeed. Perhaps there was no good outcome possible. But it didn't take long into that campaign before it became obvious that ol' Bushie was major trouble. Whatever. Anyway, it's either up from here, or we're all slaves to the Chinese in a decade or so.

But the point is that nearly anyone you talk to agrees that it's a shitfest (too bad more of 'em didn't see it coming 7 years ago), so push has to come to shove eventually here.

Yeah, but at least it's less likely that the US empire will fatally collapse in your lifetime than mine
  5. Nikon 35mm f/2.0 SLR lens: Damn 18-200 just isn't quite doing it for me
  6. So a piece of shit Dell increases your productivity? Can anyone say ergonomic keyboard and external mouse?
  7. The adjustable crossover in the TOTL IEM is somewhat cool, and makes since, as much debate over IEM's comes down to "too much bass vs. too little bass." In theory now one could have their ER4S and UM2 in the same package, with the twist of a screw.
  8. hehehe, not just yet, I'm guessing it will land sometime next week. Pics will follow!
  9. White balance issues aside, I am psyched to also recieve a bronze Pico. I've loved that finish since I first saw it on an AE-2, and it happens to mate well with the L3000.
  10. 5-8 feet of snow with hurricane force winds coming to the Sierra Nevada tomorrow. 'makes me glad I don't live at 8,000 feet anymore.
  11. Let's just hope that this one can hold together!
  12. Indeed, the W5000 is one of the best looking headphones ever. I certainly miss it if only for the eye candy. It certainly didn't feel or smell quite as nice as the L3000 though...
  13. Speak for yourself I almost got taken out the other day by some crazy jackass sliding his pickup across the two-lane mountain road with a wall and a cliff for curbs. All it took was two stinking inches of snow. Thank god for good brakes and new tires.
  14. The DA100 is probably the best flavor of sound for those two phones. And it's cheaper than the DA10. And it's built quite a bit better to boot.
  15. Yeah, narrow heads and W5000's are not the best of friends.
  16. As a Nikon guy, I'd say be glad that you can get an F2.8 "normal" zoom that has IS. I am definitely realizing the benefits of VR, and not even on an F2.8 lens. So long as your subjects aren't moving, you'll be set.
  17. The stats on this monitor put my jaw on the floor: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article784-page1.html Just wait until the technology matures even more!
  18. La Sportiva Trango Trek GTX hiking boots, boy these are comfortable as hell!
  19. Yeah, the things he tends to dislike about the HP1000 are what make me prefer it over the other Grados. But such is taste/preference/whatever, and hence the silliness of trying to assign numerical ratings to something so subjective.
  20. Indeed it's always nice to see someone else who really appreciates the Qualia for what it can do. I never failed to be floored upon listening to them.
  21. I was really hoping for Georgia to come play USC in the Rose Bowl. Oh well, at least it's a nice story for Zook and Co. (well, at least until the actual game starts). It will be rather goofy seeing the field in Pasadena painted orange and blue. That being the case, they should have invited Boise St, it probably would have made for a more interesting game. I'm not buying all this "OSU can't compete with LSU" talk. It seems to me that OSU is playing better than last year, and LSU is not the team that Florida was last year, and between QB controversy, losing their defensive coodinator, and getting overly talked up before the game (much the way USC was before playing Texas), they might be in for a surprise against OSU. Of course they still have the advantages of playing right down the road from home, and having cut their teeth in more challenging games this season.
